anybody knows where can I get the right floppy for i5S. Just had it repaired for sentimental reasons (stuck keys etc) and the tech installed a wrong floppy which doesn't work. Thanks a lot |

I have the preload files for the floppy - I will upload them and post a link here tomorrow.
Cheers

Thank you so much. I do have the original IFD-03P accessory disk as I am the original owner. I assume it holds all data, hopefully also the USER data, styles like original AMERICA , JAPAN, GERMANY shown on plastic cards. My tech is trying to repair or get the floppy disk drive. Is there a way to load data some other way?? |

You can only load from floppy - your engineer could try to instal a USB-to-floppy drive - I've installed a couple of these and they are great but I haven't installed on on Korg i-series.
If your i5S has a standard floppy drive then the USB-2-floppy drive may work.
Here is my download link (use little "down-arrow" icon at top of page to download it)
Unzip the file and copy all contents to the blank floppy.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5RyHLMkfcEvd29mVk5COV9kNkE
Here's an example photo of USB-to-floppy drive - there are many available (check e-bay)
it can effectively manage 100 floppy disks on one USB - should simply replace the existing floppy drive:-

Thank you again for your advice. I don't know if my floppy drive is i5s specific or a standard floppy. Hopefully my tech knows his job. As I have already paid over $200 to bring it back to life and everything works except the User styles maybe I will just use it like that because the cost may be more than it's worth. It is ancient but I do like it's sound. Probably bite the bullet and buy something new, PA 900 or else.
Maybe I'll find a floppy drive somewhere that's not prohibitively expensive. Thanks again |

Hello I have the i5s model and the floppy drive is broken. The strap of the floppy disk has been broken exactly.
This floppy disk is not standard because it has 26 pins instead of 34 like the standard.
I bought the usb floppy disk but it is not compatible.
Does anyone know of any adapter or any system compatible with this model?
I am surprised that the i5S model reads online that they have standard floppy disks.
Thank you very much! |
