i've had quite a bit of fun with recording loop based music and live sample playback, and I find my kp3 can be great for being creative in live situations. but I am finding there are some really difficult limitations with just using a kp3 alone. basically I record loops from any particular source (usually 4 bar or 2 bar loops) and then load 4 of these into the 4 sample banks on the kp3. I then cut back and forth across from one loop to the next and record the jam. its pretty good fun but the problems I seem to run across are getting all the loops in sync with each other and running at exactly the same speed. jumping across and making cut and paste style edits isn't smooth due to loops not being truncated universally to fit with each other. it often sounds messy. I have tried rerecording them over and over trying to get the timing perfect and its still a problem. its not the sample source material being differing time lengths in each bar because some of the material I am sampling is electronic music sequenced at a set tempo. i'm looking for another sampler that can do what i'm basically looking to do, something that is fun, intuitive and quick to get to grips with and has the ability to auto truncate quantize live as I am jamming. or tidy up the sample with simple editing tools. would the newer electribe offer this sort of intuitive fun approach? or should I look at an mpc to offer this sort of workflow?
