I have to admit--I've been lax in this depeartment. Spending too much time trying out a few softsynths. _________________ M3, Triton Classic, Radias, Motif XS, Alesis Ion |

Hi!
I've submitted 2-4 hours...
as I study piano at the Conservatory, my teacher will kill if I don't study enough...
I think that piano is like any sport: if you don't practice, you won't have good results.

How do we define practice? If you do electronic music, experimenting with softsynths, arpeggiators, sounds can definitley be considered "practice" IMO. Playing a synthesiser and a piano are two different things. I mean you do not practice chord progression with a MOSS board do you?
I usually spend 2-4 hours with my equipment.

My wife will tell you from 6 - 7 hours a day. Of course on the weekends I play considerably more. Simply put, I practice almost twice more than I work in a week
I have become a full time musician and a part time employee of the US Navy - and I'm on active duty haha...
Between Bass (my first and true love in the music world), and the TS - I just can't stop - this addiction is wonderful. I can only thank the higher power that I have my wife as the fellow bandmate. _________________ We came.

OK....I meant actually playing music--practicing scales, melodies, band material, etc. Not programming, sequencing or experimenting with arp settings. _________________ M3, Triton Classic, Radias, Motif XS, Alesis Ion |

Well, I have to reassess my statement then . Since January I spend more time exploring two new synths, examining the midi flow, trying out new possibilities rather then playing. I try to practice chords for couple of minutes a day... |

Think I am with Sewa on this one really (even if you have defined what you meant! )
I probably average 1-2 hours but sometimes more.

I went with the 1 to 2....,
I can no longer get any more time in and do composition it seems...In truth up to about 5 years ago it was more like four hours as it has been a habit and I used to play simple (and very limited...!!!) concert level, but I was young then...
I did at least 2 to 3 even when I taught ,but I was able to do some of that by playing for my choir and giving the pianist's a break...
Now I listen a lot as well, and as I like almost all music, by the time I listen to the sources I like....welll...it's bedtime for an old man....

Well... I put down an hour a week, but the truth is I NEVER practice using a somewhat strict sense of the word. I don't do scales, I don't do fingering. When I sit at the keyboard, I just play. Usually with no goal in mind, at that. I consider that practice, but some may not as it's quite unstructured. |

I do music at least 6-8 hours everyday... sometimes more... and it includes the whole spectrum ranging from paying scales/melodies,etc to composing melodies to making general midi files of popular songs to reading up effective recording methods to cleaning up the studio ...
I suppose you could say I'm a "practising" musician

I would LOVE to be able to play when I could... sadly i never have time. I'm either at school, work or spending time with my girlfriend (which is not very often). Another factor is that my triton is always at my church... i never bring it home because even if i do, I never have time to play it, so I just leave it there all week all by its lonesome
sad, but nothing I can do. I have to work and I'm going to graduate this year! _________________ -Triton Classic 61

Well Yamaha,
I used to leave my keyboard, and I have a small grand at home so it wasn't important, until I began writing material for a few churches including where I was playing, so it was always at home after that, and if I had to have it at church for anything, I had to pack it up and haul it like I was going to a gig with my buddies, (when I played guitar with a small band in high school...) boy!!! is that ever back there a ways...
Regards all, ellll |

Playing about 1/2 hour a day on average, it's practice of a sort. I'm usually trying to play different things, some of which doesn't come easily. Formal practice though, not really. _________________ Chordial |

2-4 hours but only near live performances, 1-2 hours the rest of the years... anyway in university exams period sometimes I do not play at all. In these days I have a cold so I have more time to play... 5 hours a day I think but I don't use to watch at the clock when playing...
