$2k for 16 voices. Same ol' boring dry sound of P'08.

Yes. you are right: I too found the P08 sound too dry and uninspiring and would always prefer a P6 or OB6, despite higher price and limited functionality. 16 Voices doesn't change that.

But still, a very attractive offer IMO.

I feel like they put out the same synth every time. I get it, they all have good engines. Superb! But I get no inspiration from looking or playing their synths in the store Neutral

I think it is better to have limited features 100% sound path analog music equipment or instrument then with alot of features but there is something digital in the path.

But ofcause it will be more better to have alot of features 100% analog analog music equipment or instrument.

Speakign about this new Prohet if i was Dave Smith i would not include any digital effects there at all but atlist as i understand if i am not wrong he made an option to by pass them so sound path will be 100% analog.

I traded my P08 for a Prophet 6 last year and haven't looked back, however this newer model has retweaked my interest in the P08 again and its good to know its compatible with the patches from my older model.

To me what is interesting is that it has shown that DSI are able to make an affordable decent 16 voice Polysynth after all rather than lavish expensive niche Polys that most view as overpriced.

Given there's an 8 or 16 voice option,I guess that means you can opt for the cheaper 8 voice initially and possibly upgrade to purchase an additional voice board later on down the line to expand the voice count if that's what DSI intend to do which is a very good move making it even more accessible to most people at a very affordable price which is cheaper than the original P08.

It's Nothing groundbreaking in terms of features or innovation about this Rev2 version but I think it's a welcome and much needed update to the P08 series, whether you love or loathe the P08 or seem them as the same old same old there's no denying the P08 have been a huge seller for DSI,adding some tweaks and making it cheaper is no doubt going to be another hit for them.

So it looks like i was wrong. 16 oscillators are digital. So it looks like Profet 8 is the best choice for now.

The Prophet 8 and the Rev 2 both have DCO's. This is not the same as digital oscillators that are generated entirely by a DSP or computer.

I extensively compared P08 and P6, and then bought a P6, because I really disliked the for my ears basic flat sound of the P08 (which you can cover a bit by modulation, eq and effects). From many of the P6 factory patches it wasn't even obvious how good the P6 can sound. Like Kontrol49, I'm very happy with my decision, and really enjoy that synth.

Still, I think Rev2 was a very good move by Dave Smith, and the P08 still sounds easily as good as the basic, from my view comparably flat and pale Behringer DM12 sound (without all the effects vanilla sauce they put into the demos), which doesn't even have a full second OSC, and only one ADSR-controller (which is an incredibly poor design choice from my view). So, if I couldn't afford a P6, I would still prefer a 16-voice Rev2 over a DM12 hands down, even at some hundred bucks more to pay.

Thank you for the correction.

For anyone interested in how DCO's work here is a very detailed video ...
