Hello all. I recently purchased a Kronos x 88 key. After seeing pictures up close I NOTICED THAT SOMETHING HAD BEEN SPILLED INTO THE KEYS! After talking to am associate at G.C. he said it was in almost mint condition. what should I do? _________________ waltmo4 |

Is there a link to the pictures?
Was the purchase from a store with a warranty?
Do all the keys play and have velocity sensitivity?

I will be purchasing pro coverage apon delivery. The associate in the store assured me that it was in almost mint condition. If you go to used Kronos in the Guitar Center web site the blemishes are not noticeable. When I ask for more picks is when I saw what seemed to be traces of a liquid spill. _________________ waltmo4 |

Could you save the images of the pics somewhere and post a link to them?
Use a site like box.com, or photobucket

as you should know, you should never accept a sales person statements or assertions as fact.
In the days of covered wagons, the rule was ' buyer beware'.
If it were me, I would not bother. Suggest you get a factory sealed A stock Kronos.
And the keyboards on display at my nearby GC get a ton of abuse. Mostly by 8 yr old boys slamming on the keys, twisting buttons to see if they break, while Daddy does his Jimmy Page impression in the guitar dept. _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

For some of us, having the opportunity to save 35 - 40 percent on the purchase of an instrument is the difference of owning it... or not. I think the savings is often worth the risk if you can thoroughly check it out. This week, I will be looking at a Kronos 61 to use as backup. It's for sale on craigslist for really great price, if all checks out with no issues. Yes, I have been burned before, but only when I foolishly made a purchase without inspection and no guarantee (early ebay days). |

Agree on it likely being dust rather than a liquid spillage. There's more of the stuff behind the keys. A vacuum cleaner hose held close by whilst brushing with a clean soft-haired paintbrush should have that looking like new in no time. Some dust is also likely to have found it's way into the innards of the K2, but if the keys all play OK then there's not likely to be a problem. The perforated rear panel of the K2 lets more dust in than the original Kronos and Kronos-X, and the fan will blow it around in there. Having said that, the Kronos is pretty reliable, and an awesome instrument to play. I'm sure it will give many hours of pleasure.

When its an expensive purchase I think its wise to get a few more facts.
Crap shoots are ok on cheap , less complicated purchases. Plus I don't have X-ray vision, at least not on the Internet.
The K2 61 is a hot keyboard, few on the market, it seems, low price is $2900 ( talking US)
If its true you can get a substantial discount ($300/$400) on a GC demo ( you have to see if this GC allows little children running around in the key board room) The $400 demo discount might offset the potential aggravation.
The next fact I would pursue is how good the local service is. Some of them are swamped with work and may make you wait for 2-3 weeks, etc.
If you are so inclined to do this, put a few bucks down to hold the board. _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8
