hello
i recently received a microkorg as a gift. This is my first hardware synth and until now I have been producing exclusively on software synths.
I was hoping someone could provide me with some guidance on how to hook my microkorg up to Logic. I want to be able to record my microkorg and vocoder into Logic.
What do I need to be able to do this? Do I need to buy more hardware? I thought it would be as easy as connecting my Korg via midi cable into an external instrument track. However this does not seem to be working.
Please help! I am very eager to start using this wonderful machine.
Thank you |

Hi,
MIDI only carries events like key hit, key release, pitch bending or rolling the modulation wheel. It never carries the sound as such.
You can record those MIDI events in Logic in some MIDI track and then you can edit them in the piano roll window, quantize, whatever. But at play back the events must be sent back to the microKorg who will generate the sound again.
So if you want the sound in Logic as well, you need a Audio interface to record the sound of the micro as well (hook up audio L+R outputs of the micro to the audio interface). Then you can record both (the MIDI events and the sound).
Bye. _________________ microKORGXL, Kaossilator Pro, monotribe, SQ-1, volca fm, Kross 88 BK
