The Kronos trumpets are average

They don't have that breathy articulated sound trumpet players have.

I have detuned 2 different trumpet programs, and messed with EQ/FX but not getting close to what I would like.

I was actually thinking a wind controller might be the missing piece of the puzzle for trumpet/reed instruments.

I find that the Alto Sax on the Kronos when using expression is fairly good.

If anybody has found that level of realism for Trumpets, I would appreciate hearing that solution.

Thanks

Have you considered Native Instruments Kontakt. I am really new to this whole world of computers, but I heard a few of their sounds the other night and was really impressed.

that is much better than the stock Kronos trumpets. But I am not going to jump on a new platform for 1 instrument.

I did not hear that breathy quality on the demo. I think his demo should exclude
all the other instruments in order to really hear the trumpet. But thats me,

Thanks for showing that.

I also have MainStage and that trumpet isn't realistic enough, either.

Apart from breath controller etc (or just use js-y )

Try layering some wind / breath, blown trumpets with velo and also use ams mixer to bring that into as desired.

If I understand it well, Greg do look for a Kronos sound, not for a trumpet sound on any else platform.

Here is some not too bad sounds for Kronos :

I remember a thread that was quite interesting about making better bagpipes and variants in the Kronos. If I remember right Sharp had it right. Would those techniques be of use in creating or improving the trumpet sounds you are after? I think sharp used a guitar lfo does that sound right? Anyone remember that thread? I will try googling it and post a link in an edit to this thread if I find it.

edit; I did find it. I don't know if it will help but I figured I would throw it out just in case it might, Korg bagpipe thread
