In the Netherlands PA1000 will be available in the stores by the end of november. Some patience required...

AntonySharmman

how or were did you fine out the size of the rom in the pa1000 if I unstand you right ,

There is an actual parity of equation here : Pa4X vs Pa1000 == Pa3X vs Pa900
The 2 lacking features of missing Fill tabs and EC5 port , automatically downgrades this arranger to Pa900 amateur category
with less than 1 GB factory resources , no comparison at all with flagship Pa4X V2 of 5.1Gb sound resources !

That´s what it´s meant to be : mid-class / amateur-class

Strange approach. NOT everyone pro. Musican uses EC5 or Fill mode.

Pa1000 do not have fill buttons either EC5 port so the only option for manual fills will be the 2 buttons pressing as in Pa900 !
Pro users are just like power users regardless if performing at home or in audience !

For complex performing , the fact of using 2 buttons for a fill is too much to caught up the manipulation of a real time
played song when simultaneously STS/KBD SET and Variation buttons must be also pressed in a very short time period
not to mention the "bridge" of song's notes that must be played at this time !
"One man band" users like me , know exactly what do I mean !
That's why the discontinuing of KBD Set standalone feature "velocity to Fill" in Pa4X , that saved our time of pressing
extra buttons , is a huge lack !!!

Whatever features an amateur or professional musican will use is individual - maybe using the keyboard in band-formation or without need, to use Styleplay-features.

For an armateur it is even more difficult than playing for an "OneManEntertainer" to play songspecific styles as described by Anthony:

So lacking features of missing Fill Tabs, Fill Mode, Velocity to Fill (outside Globals) and EC5 port automatically not only downgrades Pa1000 to amateur category, but also restricts the usage for amateurs - that really are huge lacks !!!.

Push the boundaries of your musicality!"

Above paragraph was copied from the Korg PA1000 description. Sounds like Kaoss to me Pete. Cool

Does everyone think that the new KAOSS FX adequately takes the place of the sliders for the Pa 1000? Well, at least for mixing the accompaniments?

No, KAOSS is effects feature and does not replace slider functions.

I believe this is a quote from Korg's (or someone's) description of the PA1000.
I think it is true but is a little vague - KAOSS does not replace the sliders on the PA4X/PA3X.
You cannot "fine mix" sounds if that means "as if it were the volume sliders".
You can certainly fine mix accompaniment variations.

Maybe the PA1000 KAOSS is different but the manual looks identical.

Cheers

So if the ability to mix accompaniment sounds, (as Tony from Bonners showed on the introduction videos of the Pa4x), exists within the touchscreen of the Pa1000, then why couldn't the other slider features become a firmware upgrade in the future for the Pa1000 or anything with KAOSS?

tkarlman, I think the answer is in Korg's wish to maintain some differentiation between their PA1000 and the Pa4x instruments. If the Pa1000 did and had everything the Pa4x had, then no one would buy the PA4x at $1600.00 US dollars higher. Wink

That being said; the PA1000 looks to be a a positive addition to the Korg PA lineup. Professional or not as interpreted by some here.
I think it will prove to be a winner!

I was afraid someone would go there -- Korg needing to differentiate the Pa4x from the Pa1000. Well, I can hope, can't I? I had the hots for the Pa4x REAL bad, but the Pa1000 breathed new life into the idea; but I didn't (don't) want to give anything up.

What comes to this: The Pa1000 has some new very good styles and sounds which are not present in the PA4X !! This is not ok for the expensive PA4X.
