So i want some new sounds, a lot of new sounds. And i stumled upin this webpage called electribrary. They have samples amd instruments for you to download wich is awesome. Them they have the .esx file "packs" that come whith a whole bunch of sounds. But it seems as though these file packs that may also contain patterns and other information(?), Whilr replace the current state of my esx? I mean that the sounds and patterns on there now will be erased and replaced or have i just totally got this the wrong way??

Best regards
/New and confused .esx user.

Ooooooh yes they will! It's basically a "profile" so you could, for example, play a set on your buddy's ESX by just slapping a card in and loading the .ESX file.

If you have stuff worth keeping on your current ESX profile, save it to a card before uploading a new one. This will require a card. For cheap ones, look for old Olympus and Fujifilm digital cameras from the late '90s early 2000s that claim to come with SmartMedia cards. No sweat if you have the SD edition.

I'll tell you right now though: ESX is limited to 270 seconds of sampling time, and that's when you use Mono. I'd recommend never using stereo samples because they take up room and limit your polyphony on stuff like stretch parts, so they just suck. If you need a "stereo feel" for a sample, just play with the panning. This machine is mostly for drums/one-shot samples, but the Time Stretch feature is awesome so I'd say have a couple loops too to use that.

Yes, everything will be erased. You want to save your current set on a card first, then make an archive on your computer or cloud.

BTW.. Send me an email at snowmetaluniversity@gmail.com and I'll zip up a huge pack of .esx files for you. That goes for anyone else as well. Smile
