Anyone know what popular song gave rise to the Long Life Ballad style? I like it.

I've decided they aren't for Country/Western and old time Rock n Roll! Smile
Still it's good of Korg to keep supplying them.

Is there some legal reason why Korg could not just publish a list of each Style with the words "inspired by" and then list a song named for the style?

I'm kind of directing this to Paulo at Korg.

Because overall this question of what songs the style fits tends to come up again and again. And I don't know why they've never just done something like I listed above. After all you're not copying the song directly, and it is not a copyright violation to sound like something.

haha, well I guess if the song it is based on is not easily recognisable, then it must not be a very popular song Wink

I can understand why Korg would not refer specifically to actual song titles and also why they cleverly change these styles such that they are not copyright issues.
We live in a stupid world where all many seem to do is want to sue to make money.

Example:- There was a major court case over the copyrights of these two songs here is Australia

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Mfve0oxbPA

So there is some stupidity at it's stupidest Wink

And to me, this means it's an excellent style.
I'm not a fan of styles with a typical song signature.
You can only use those for 1 particular song, unless you put a lot of effort in making the styles unrecognizable.

You cannot copyright a style. You cannot copyright a chord progression. You cannot copyright a time signature, or a percussion pattern.

You can only copyright a melody and lyrics. And Korg styles do not have melodies or specific chords.

So copyright is not really an issue. I think it may be more about the number of characters you can fit on the style name, and the song name would be too long.

But they could still publish a reference and list the songs they based the style on. No legal problem there at all.

Most of them i recognised, this vol. 29 set is fantastic and sound really close to the original songs.

Here's the list:

MISSING: EDX - Missing (ft. Mingue)
READY FOR IT: Taylor Swift - Ready For It?
MIND: JP Cooper - She's On My Mind
BELIEVER POP: Imagine Dragons - Believer
LONG POP: Charlie Puth - "How Long"
EVA BEAT: MinaCelentano - Eva
HEAVY POP: Linkin Park - Heavy
YELLOW BEAT: Cardi B - Bodak Yellow
GOOD BALLAD: Sam Smith - Too Good At Goodbyes
BELONG BALLAD: Sabrina Claudio - Belong To You
CALL BALLAD: Taylor Swift - Call It What You Want
TOUCH BALLAD: Little Mix - Touch

Not the real song they are based on, but songs perfectly suited for this style:
16 BEAT BOB: Nils Hoffmann - Balloons (Martin Roth Remix)
KISS BALLAD: Klymaxx - When you kiss me
LATIN UNA DANCE: Malu Trevejo - Luna Llena

No idea:
VALENTINE POP

Qui, where is this Volume #29 you got these from? I don't see them in my PA4X with OS 2.0.

Awesome, awesome, awesome! Thank you Qui for solving the mystery. I'll have to listen to these songs pick out the ones I like. I love that they are current and some of the styles transcend other songs.

Thank you Sir!
