It's just that I'm currently using a twenty year old Roland A33 with the korg module.

The Roland isn't weighted, but it has the facilities that I feel is important when controlling the module.

Such as two separate midi outs, 32 programmable presets that can store transpose, select programmes in setlist and the ability to run on battery power.
The current Roland A88 hasn't got those features.

Pitch bend, modulation, volume, damper pedal input, expression pedal input and light weight. All good features to have.
The korg D1, proves that korg can make a light weight, weighted keyboard.

As a suggestion, why can't korg think about producing a controller with the above features, that would complement both the korg plugkey and the korg module. Utilising the RH3 keybed, in my opinion would sell by the bucket load.

Because there's too many out there already and it's a small market.

And don't feel bad about a 20 year old A33: I'm still using a THIRTY year old Yamaha KX88!

Times are changing, it was always an advantage to have a separate midi keyboard with the prospect of adding / changing sound modules.

The disadvantage, was that these sound modules were very expensive and beyond the price of most people.

I still have a yamaha tg500, cost about £1000 when new, it's just about worthless today.

Using an Ipad pro with the korg module gives me a piano sound with no looping or latency. All that's required is a natural feeling keyboard that I don't mind paying premium for, because its not going to be a dinosaur in a few years time.

The KX88 / A33 of this world are proof that playing quality is still important to musicians and used with today's cheap, but not so cheap sounding apps, it's giving them a new lease of life.

Slight change of topic, just tried out the MX88 from Yamaha.

I thought it played and sounded fantastic for the money. Great feeling keyboard, with all the desirables I wanted listed in my previous posts. Including, direct connection with the korg module if required, using the camera adapter.

My only concern is. I had a yamaha XS 88 before getting the korg kronos and that's quite a while ago. So sound wise, it feels if I would be taking a step backwards,

But for portability and the advantage of using it on an open mic night without having to take the korg, I'm seriously thinking in buying one.

Maybe if korg could develope an alternative in the future, but then again life's to short.
