I got a Pa4X several days ago. That's a lot of fun.
But I found a problem which had set me back:

The communication between my Mac and the Pa4X over USB MIDI fails regularly.

The only way I found to recover was to restart my Mac.

Wonder if others have this problem and whether there is a faster way to restore the connection.?

What happens is that the Pa4X ports:
SOUND ( midi out from mac to pa4x) and
KEYBOAD (midi in on the mac receiving from pa4X)
are working fine for a while, but will then no longer exist on the Mac, instead a generic USB MIDI port with the name USB-MIDI installs itself.

This is observed by the 3 different apps : Audio Midi Setup utility, Midi Probe and Logic Pro X, so it is probably correctly observed. I guess that the Driver supplied by Korg stops working, for unknown reasons, and then the generic USB DEVICE driver gets installed automatically instead. That new connection works, but it will not work for communication with Logic without replacing all the references to the Pa4X.

I try this with a minimal setup with Mac-book and no other USB connections than the Pa4X. It happens approx. once every 1-2 hours.
Peace
Tordenspyd

Hi Tordenspyd

Have not experienced this yet.
What OSX level are you at? High Sierra is still unreliable but getting better.......

I am using Logic Pro X with my Kronos with no problems but that is on my other Mac running Sierra.

I'll try my High Sierra system later and see if I get the same instability....

Cheers

Pete, Thanks for the reply!

I am running MacOS High Sierra version 10.13.4.
The KORG USB Midi driver version is 1.2.3r4

I have not tested on other Macs having different OS.

However, I can make the Pa4X driver come back much easier than restarting the Mac; If I unplug the USB cable, the generic USB MIDI device driver goer away and the Pe4X driver comes back.

I have not tried other MacOS setups.

peace

I'm using High Sierra 10.13.5 . Will try my pa4x today to see is there any problem with the usb connection or it is bug related.
