I have a principle now not to buy when released but always wait 12-18 months - the OS and the price tends to settle in that time.

The PA4X is so amazing that for me to go to 5X (or whatever they call it) it would almost have to be a complete re-design -

Completely against my principles, I'm planning to go to 5X as soon as it will be released!
I'm completely and utterly content with my superb 4X, enjoying it every day, but imagine what 5X will be....
I want to enjoy that to the max! Life's too short, you know...

Dear Karmathanever, in recent days i see discount of prices of Pa4x on some selling dealers. Could it be a harbinger of Pa5x or Pa X? So, 2019 is coming and also i often hear new device rumors from my close Korg programmer who lives in Japan. IMO, Pa4x falls out of sight¿¿

For us here, the PA-series prices always seem to drop after the initial 12-18 months.
I don't necessarily think it is indicative of a new model in the immediate future.

BUT, like everyone else (except Korg) I really don't know.

Cheers

Thanks for reply. A special question to you, have you ever been tested Yamaha Genos? if yes, what did you feel according to 4x?

When I have a look at your musical gear (PA4X-76, Kronos, Integra), you could afford quite something in the past.... Wink

While the Genos has a lot to offer (interface, screen, arps, knobs, ensemble, sa2, hige dsp power) the Pa4x is still the more complete, is a real workstation (editing) and has more direct controll..

Soundwise, they both sound great...

Hi ebuzer52

Very happy to answer your question but these are my personal views:-
I played the Genos for a long time a little while ago and intentionally checked out the things that "concerned me" and also was needed by me.
Firstly, I was VERY excited about Genos thinking that lazy old Yamaha had actually come up with a "NEW" arranger but, not so. Genos is simply a Tyros 6. I compared the Tyros manual with Genos manual too - almost copy & paste. The Tyros (which I owned) had many things not suitable for me and so Genos is now in that same category. So from actually playing Genos:-
I completely disliked the keybed and found it to feel "short-fall" and hard.
B3-Leslie emulation (which is important to me) is worse than the Tyros.
I hate registrations trying to remember "numbers" - this is where the PA4X is so much more conducive to performing and recording.
Super Articulation on Tyros/Genos is nice but mostly uncontrollable
Vocal processor is just about unusable for me - check out this sweet lady's performance in particular around 1:10 (and other places) - this is exactly what happened on my PSRs910 and Tyros - Yamaha say they've improved the VP but I'm not so sure.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzfX2VjkLPs
It still has no tempo lock
It still has no intelligent chord fingering
It has no instantly accessible Bass Inversion toggle
It has no multi-switch pedal facility like EC5
It has no set-list feature
Styles are still too basic and don't seem to have much chord variation technology (intros and endings are great though)
It does have some nice sounds but then so does my PA4X, Kronos AND CASIO!!! (That's all very subjective anyway)
Rear line-out ports will not take "L-shaped" jacks due to casing design
Touch-screen is nice (at last!!)
Joystick is nice (at last!!!)
I still think Yamaha have kept this in the "play-at-home-around-the-Christmas-tree" category.

Anyhow, I do not want the above to kick-off another Korg vs. Yamaha war - just respectfully answering your question.

Cheers

Pete Very Happy

Karmathanever, thanks very much brother for theese very valuable " personal" minds. i really became happy. i was informed about Genos more or less. This detailed informations really opened my mind, and i watched video on your post, that was awfull, catastrophic and harm to mind. As if the singer turns into an alien Wink Approximately for 10 years, i am a user of Korg and thought to add a Yamaha studio next to my Pa4x and Kronos 2, but i realised that i will have to wait a little longer for development of Yamaha Keyboards.
For all, thanks again very much. ( Sorry for my poor English :[ )

Expecting a new high end korg arranger before musicmesse, just seems illogical..

My best bet is still late 2019
