The numerous helper routines of GN (Guenther Nagler) are still indispensable and suitable for working with SMFs, because works reliably and without unnecessary ballast (DOS command level).
Dealing with chords and lyrics mostly I prefer PSRUti (Heiko Plate), also MixMaster (Michael P. Bedesem) is well suited for the processing of SMFs. _________________ kind regards

Thanks siebenhirter for this information
I see PSRUti and MixMaster have been written specifically for Yamaha keyboards |

Maybe, but SMFs are nothing made specifically for Yamaha, Korg or any other brand. Software editing and processing SMFs makes no difference which devices SMF was created or played with, so you also can edit Korg specific SYSEXS and the MIDI commands you need for SMFs that you use and play on Korg devices.
*
The problem with SMF editing is mostly the users, if they do not want to understand that certain MIDI in SMFs sometimes have been specially adapted for a particular keyboard model and therefore can be worthless for another model - maybe such commands are not processed or interpreted differently.
If you work with SMFs, you should know what data you are working with, because the presentation of texts, lyrics, markers and chords (mostly meta-data) can be processed differently by different device types. But you don't need any device-specific software, because the MIDI commandos always conform to the specified standard of the MMA (MIDI Manufacturers Association).
Also sequencer software (cubase, sonar, cakewalk etc ...) is not made for a special brand, so you also can use Mixmaster or PSRUti for editing and sequencing your SMFs. _________________ kind regards
