|
|
Is it possible to turn on an IFX effect from an external keyboard?
I have IFX 77 (L/C/R Delay) set up for a timbre (INT A097) that I am triggering from my external keyboard. I would like to be able to turn on the effect by using the SW2 switch on my external keyboard (Korg TR). At the moment, when I put SW2 as the source, I have to use the SW2 on the Kronos.
Secondly, can someone explain to me how to use the MIDI set up so I can determine when I use the Kronos controls or the external keyboard's controls on any given timbre? There are times when I will want to use SW1 on the Kronos to control the Kronos-triggered sound, and the SW1 on the Korg TR (which is my slave keyboard) to control the sound triggered by the TR.

From the Parameter Guide:
In the section Insert Effects, p864:
The KRONOS can also turn IFX1–IFX12 off
separately from the setting of the ON/OFF button
by receiving MIDI control change message CC#92.
Value 0 will turn them off, and value 1–127 will turn
them on.
You can also use “Effect Global SW” to turn IFX1–12
on and off. This MIDI control is performed on the
global MIDI channel.
In the section Master Effects, p877:
Separately from the setting of this ON/OFF button,
MFX1 and MFX2 can be switched off by receiving a
MIDI control change CC#94. Value 0 will turn them
off, and value 1–127 will turn them on. You can also
use “Effect Global SW” (Global 0–1b) to turn MFX1
and 2 on and off. This MIDI control is performed on
the global MIDI channel.
In the "Controlling the Insert Effect via MIDI" section, p 876
Combination mode
The P8 ‐ IFX1–12 page lets you specify the control
channel (Control Channel) for IFX1–12. You can
choose from CH01–16, Gch, or All Routed.
Ch01–16: Select this when you want to control each
insert effect from a different channel. |

Thanks, that's done the trick with respect to the IFX.
Is it possible to change the settings (presumably in Global?), so that the controls on the external keyboard will also control the parameters in the program itself? For example, if the program, could I have SW1 on the Kronos assigned to Octave UP on a piano sound being played on the Kronos, and SW1 on the external keyboard triggering the vibrato / chorus on an organ being played on the external keyboard (say INT-A 041)? _________________ Peter

The Vibrato/chorus in the CX-3 engine can be turned on/off by a checkbox, or more importantly, by an AMS source. By default it's set at CC80.
Since your external controller is on the same MIDI channel as your organ sound (obviously), just set your ext controller Switch to send the correct CC you picked as the AMS source to the Vibrato/chorus on/off. |
