Waldorf is a very interesting hardware company that breaths innovation
For my taste.. if they combine kyra and quantum, and drop the analogue filters.. make it 16 part polyphony and add some form to create backings.. they have a great workstation
I must be the only one in the music bizz that thinks analogue is over rated.. but then maybe the kyra prooves me wrong in creating a true analogue feel in a virtual analogue coating. _________________ Korg Kronos 2/88 , Genos, Mainstage3 +VSTsu, ipad pro, GSi Gemini, Roland Integra 7, Jupiter Xm, Yamaha motif XS rack, Ketron SD90.

There is some pretty nasty digital distortion going on in some of those sounds. Very obvious on the pad around the 2:20 to 2:40 mark, I wonder where that is coming from. |

Yes, I got the email today announcing that the synth is now shipping. I'm a little disappointed by the small mod-matrix, the lack of wavetables and a few of Waldorf's filters are missing (eg comb). A forth envelope wouldn't have gone astray, nor would a forth LFO (I've been spoilt by the Evolver). The oscillator count is enormous though and the crossfade function does sound interesting. The polyphony is stupendous and 8-part multitimbre is pretty decent too. The sound is very Waldorf and the interface is a nice mix of their past layouts.
I'm still very keen on getting a Quantum though. I feel that I can get unique sounding VA out of my other two pure digital Waldorf synths and the Quantum does do a decent job at VA also. Now I need to just keep the savings rolling (and not give into one of those "buy now pay later interest free!" schemes ) _________________ Stuff I'm using: Umm right now, well there's a Volca Drum, a Micro Freak, an ADX-1, a Pulse, a Blofeld, a UNO Drum, KeyStep/Beatstep Pro/Keystep Pro (one of each), a Circuit, a LiveTrak L-12 and this nonsense: The Brief-case as it was about a bit over a year ago (the the complete ridiculous GAS monster collection here)and here |

https://youtu.be/1RETtniQCKs Also when Jamie @ GEOSynths https://youtu.be/5pZVqEE_y6w (kyra discussed in this episode ) who will also cover some ground with Kyra as is Marshal Arnold with more video's coming soon... i may just pull the trigger and order Kyra myself... (local dealer not selling Waldorf and a 6hrs round trip to find one is a drag) earliy indications sound promising... staying tuned to YouTube and both fellers above + some bed time reading with the manual. _________________ Korg PA5X-76 : Yamaha Montage M8x : Roland Jupiter 80 : Waldorf STVC : Roland Integra 7 : Waldorf Streichfett : Focal Trio6 ST6 : Studio Outboards/RME Audio Interface/A&H SQ Mixer : |
