Memory sticks do not usually die unless there is a problem and the usual one is simply unplugging it without going through the Eject process. _________________ Biggles

I have been guilty of that. Although, not seemingly active at the time, I guess that might have been the cause. Since I have pulled USB sticks thousands of times over the years, after the activity has ceased, I never gave it a thought.
Since it is too late know, I will have to chalk it up to another lesson learned.
Thanks

Hi Bernie,
The issue is that your PC etc will sometimes not physically write data that you put onto the USB drive - you think you've done it but the PC can hold some data in a temporary internal memory area (called cache) - the act of properly ejecting any disk drive/USB will ensure that anything left in the "cache" will be written to the disk.
Failure to "eject" can sometimes cause corruption on the disk and hence the disk may need re-fomatting.
Hope this helps

Since restoring data(songbook) is pretty well out of the question, I am debating how to proceed. Starting over is a daunting thought, even if I added fresh songs. It came to me that if I could get a keyboard set from someone, at least I would have a start. Would this work?
