Hi All
This might be very trivial to some of you but I just thought that I should ask before updating the OS.
I have OS 1.0 on my PA4x. I wish to upgrade to the new 3.1, but will this update erase all my styles and settings?
If I make a backup on my Flash Drive, how will I restore my style files after the OS has been updated?

Make sure you perform a "save-all" backup first (MEDIA mode) - this will save all your USER data (styles/sounds etc...)

As you are going from V1 to V3.1 you MUST update to V2 FIRST - CRITICAL!!!!

Bear in mind that your current version is very old and there have been many many changes and new features since V1.
You may find that some factory STYLES are different etc...

When performing the OS V2 update, make sure you run the "factory restore" step (as per the instructions).
Also do the same when you update to V3.1

If you follow the included update instructions carefully, everything should work just fine.

After your final OS update (3.1) you can load your originally-saved SET but you will possible have some "tweaking" to do.

Thanks a lot. I did everything and now the PA4X is upto date with all my older data as well as the new one.
One thing however remains, I have downloaded the bonus styles given by Korg on the website. How do I install these on the keyboard without erasing the older data?
Also, what is Direct mode? How can I play styles and tones without loading them?

With the bonus styles, it is best for you to choose where you want to load them

In MEDIA mode, select the bonus SET and then OPEN it (not LOAD)
If you continue to OPEN and not LOAD you can drill down to the BANK or individual styles and then select the destination BANK or STYLE location of your choice.

DIRECT set allows you to access STYLES and SONGBOOK directly without loading them (does not include SOUNDs) - these remain in the external SET on disk and are directly accessed.
