|
|
Hi,
After many years of using the Pa800, I have a Pa4x now. I am feeling difficultly while I play Pa4x because of low trigger point on keys. I feel I am little late in fast song performances sometimes. I never felt this with Pa800 before. I dont talk about connect with MIDI cable and record via Audio Interface. I talk about live performance when I connect with speakers.
Do you have same problem? Or any idea?

What are the details of your gear, set-up and connections.
Latency usually relates to the external equipment's processing speed and not the source itself.
Could not see this being a keyboard problem.
Very curious

I play and listen via headphone from headphone output. Same problem... You cant feel this in slow songs maybe but if you try to play fast song notes you will feel maybe.
In my opinion this is not about connecting cables or their lengths. I will upload a photo and you can see there big empty place for playing a note. I dont know KORG'S idea. Maybe they think that this will give more natural playing but I think this "empty place" is much for performance.
I want to ask: Do you have same empty place like my keyboard? All Pa4x are same or not? I really want to learn this. I dont have second Pa4x around of me now to test...

This sounds serious.
Can you please give exact examples - style/tempo etc..etc..
I would like to test this on mine.
Many thanks

Thanks for concern.
It doesnt matter style, tempo or sound. I got this with every sound. I tried for you factory preset (not my traditional samples)
You can try with Ballad / Modern Ballad / Keyboard Set (1. Trumpet & Mute / 2. Electric Piano / 3. Synth Pad / 4. Lead Synth)
All samples start to give sound POINT that I show in picture...

Sorry but your picture is not visible on my Mac
If this happens on all styles, sounds etc then I suggest you return your PA4X for replacement.
I have never experienced or heard of Korg arranger keyboard latency problems on all the Korg models I have owned.
You may have a faulty keyboard. Definitely get a service engineer to check it and witness the problem
I wish you luck.

Latency is in this case the wrong word. I would call it the trigger. in my opinion, don't know if I'm exactly correct, the velocity is measured in relation to the speed you press a key. And to measure speed you need a distance to measure. This maybe the reason for the " (measuring) distance", when you press the key. |

For my own interest I made a test with some ohter keyboards,
PA4X, Ketron Audya5 and MOXF8. The result ist always the same as seen in your video, so I think it's correct and like I said before, neccessary to determine the velocity. |

I'm sorry for my bad English. Yeah, I was talking about the trigger point. Pa800 is not at home now. Then I will do the same test with it. If your pa4x triggers from the same point, then my keyboard is normal. I was scared for a moment.
But if I add my own opinion, I think such a low trigger point creates some difficulty in fast performances. Just my idea...
Thank you very much to the friends (ova, Tom04) for feedback. |

Just watched the video . For the speed you are playing the key ( very slowly ) there should be no sound at all . Have you checked the touch sensitivity settings ? |

Thanks for reply "worth"
Actually it doesnt matter we press the key slow or fast in this point. You will get sound from same trigger point. Fast or slowly pressing can effect the velocity amounts. If you press fast and strong you will hear strong sound and if you press slowly you will hear soft sound. If you ask about that I tried different "Velocity Curve" settings? Yes, I tried and I got sound from same trigger point all of them. (fixed, soft 3, soft 2, soft 1...)
I pressed slowly you to see the trigger point. If I press fast you cant understand and see where is starting the trigger point.
If you have opportinity to check your trigger point as my video, please feedback me.
