Sure, in combi mode you can assign any sound to each of the 16 MIDI channels. Then use your external keyboard to trigger any channel you defined in your combi according to what you need. Read the guides about combi mode - there are also videos on the Korg site and elsewhere online.

Yes, using the KARMA keyzone method, in Combi or Sequencer modes. Two videos showing how to do it, here:
This works with internal and external sounds. You can layer the sounds or split the keyboard up so that different sounds are on certain keys. On the KARMA GE Setup/Keyzones page, you can set the LOW and HIGH key for each module. The modules are not running, they are just controlling the keyzone area and transmission channel.
