Only, as I said, within the context of using the SMF within a Sonor project.
If you simply open the SMF in a new project, or in another DAW or in the PAx, there is ZERO information about what the SMF was before saving as a new SMF.
We are simply getting out terminology confused, but given the OP's admitted newness to all this, it is best to remain clear... |

Many thanks to all of you for your comments
I have now achieved what I was trying to do i.e record from the PA to Sonar.
On doing this and saving as a midi 0 file I can then open it and play about with it to my hearts content. As you all have stated there are many ways of doing things to achieve what you want to do. BUT first you have to know what you want to achieve and what you are going to do when you have achieved it.
That then becomes a problem as I am a play a bout a.
so once again many thanks , oh by the way I worked out why the icons were missing on the screen next to the tracks, I just widened the screen.
