Hi...
I am looking for more realistic or closer to realistic piano sounds for my Korg PA4X. Does anybody have one? |

Sorry but this is an odd question really.
What do you mean by "more realistic"?
What EQ and MaxxAudio settings do you use?
What effects do you use?
What equipment are you playing it through?
What environment are you in?
What realism do you want - i.e. what will you compare it to?
C. Bechstein.
Blüthner.
Bösendorfer.
FAZIOLI.
Grotrian.
Sauter.
Shigeru Kawai.
Steinway & Sons
Yamaha
Bernstein
Italian Grand/German Grand
Upright
...etc...etc...
Wish I could help but it is close to impossible as it is a very subjective and "personal" question
Try some basic PA4X sound editing
Cheers

You know what would improve ‘realism’ for most sampled pianos for me?
Slightly less than absolutely PERFECT tuning and intonation... Now, I don’t mean a honky tonk or tack piano, but honestly guys, what was the last real piano you sat and played that was ‘perfect’? Maybe for ten minutes or so after the top piano tuner in your country had labored over it for hours, but ten minutes of spirited playing and that perfection has gone!
For me, a great piano sample set sounds like the tuner came a week or so before. Still in tune enough to be more than playable, but just enough off that it doesn’t sound like an abstraction of a piano.
Just like an orchestral library sounds more real with slight intonation differences between sections (that’s what happens even with the best orchestras), for me, a piano doesn’t sound real until it sounds like it has been played. I wish more sample vendors worked harder at that... |

You would think that an approved merchant on this forum wouldn't encourage piracy...
Sure, you BUY Ivory and resample it for strictly yourself, that's probably fair use. Or you buy Ivory and hire someone else to resample it for you for strictly your own use, that's probably fair use as well (as long as they don't distribute it to other people who haven't bought Ivory).
But for someone trying to sell their own stuff here, I am not clear as to how you could suggest this unless you feel it's OK for other people to copy YOUR stuff and hand it out? |

I believe Korg1 was referring to resampling the "Vintage 1951 Steinway Concert D" as opposed to pirating from Ivory II.
Hope I'm not wrong!!

re-sampling is not pirating.....the size of the samples will be quite many Gb less to fit on pa4x, plus GUI is different .
If you use a Neve 1073 ,the result will be great, maybe better than Ivory if sampled right....and nothing will be the same then,
not samples,not size,not sound...... _________________

Hi,
I find it strange that Shawnstanley123 posts a question on the Forum, receives numerous answers to his question and responds to none of them at all.

The original posting was only a few days ago, and he has responded to other postings, so probably busy dealing with those issues. There's still time. |

I suggest you contact Synthogy and ask them whether they feel that someone copying their data is piracy or not rather than arbitrarily deciding for yourself whether you feel entitled to use their work without paying for it...
Sampling a piano involves getting the piano, putting it in a great studio, miking it with very expensive mics, having the piano tuned and regulated and then spending days meticulously recording each note at gradually increasing velocities.
Re-sampling Ivory involves copying all the samples (or just some of them) probably without having paid for all the initial work in the first place, and then distributing it for free. At least, that’s what you are suggesting...
So sorry, Karma, but I’m afraid that piracy is EXACTLY what he is suggesting. Contact Synthogy if you feel otherwise. As I said, you would have thought an approved merchant here would have thought this through. |

You honestly think Synthogy don’t have a similar copyright notice?
By your logic, should someone send me a copy of your work with ONE note edited and changed, you don’t get paid. You think that’s OK..? |
