|
|
Hi Guys, hope you can help?
My Kronos x 61 has developed a fault with the keybed. 2 white keys and one black do not work down near the bottom of the keyboard - all the rest of the keys play fine.
Would this be the rubber contacts need replacing or maybe just dust?
If anyone else has had this issue and can point me in the right direction I would be very grateful. |

It would help if you described the nature of the malfunction.
Like what are the keys doing different or not doing.
Someone can offer better ideas with a better picture of exactly what the keys are doing different.
Are they moving normally when pressed, and making no unusual mechanical noises, but then silent when struck for a note to play?
Are the keys stuck and not able to press down?
Or are they pressing down with difficulty and/or nosiyness and instability?
My opinion is that no matter the nature of the problem, as long as you are sure it is key malfunction and not a rougue zoning setup or note mapping, then opening up the keyboard from underneath is the thing to do.
Having a look inside to see what is odd looking around the problem area. |

The keys simply do not work, they feel and sound the same as the rest but do not trigger the sound.
I have opened the Kronos up and examined the key contact board (KLM-2781) to find that the small resistors look burned out on D%,D6,D7,D8 and D9.
I have not got a clue where to get this part from but I maybe able to replace these resistors myself hopefully.[/img] |

D% (presumably D5), D6, D7, D8 and D9 are actually diodes associated with keys D2, D#2, and E2. Are these the keys that aren't working? Question is why did they burn out? |

Yes, they are the keys that are not working.
The keyboard has been sat for a while but had a cover over it so not idea why this has happened.
Just checked the link you kindly included but lower notes board is currently out of stock
Do you know anywhere else that sells these parts? |

www.partsisparts.net
You may have to call them as their website is not always up to date for stock. _________________ Kronos 2 73 |

On closer inspection I found that the diodes have corroded so believe at some point there has been liquid ingress through the keys on to the contact board.
Luckily I contacted Korg UK and they have the KLM-2781 board I need so have got one on order
Thanks to everyone who has replied to me post with help. |

mrgijones1: I'm glad I found your post because a similar thing happened to me. Due to no gigs during COVID-19, I stored my Kronos 2 61 away in my garage and in its brand-new case; so, it's been almost a year since I played it. Liquid has never been anywhere around my Kronos, however.
I started her up today to update its firmware to find that the Db (2nd from the lowest Db) key action wise was perfect, just like all the others; but, no sound was triggered.
So, I need to buy a KLM-2781 contact board to fix this problem???
When you went this route, did it completely fix the problem with your dead keys???
Thanks for your reply. |
