I only had my 2nd replacement Kronos for 8 weeks and already one of the keys when I press it sounds like a metal piece is loose or not fixed properly and the hammer action is moving like itís in contact with something inside making like a scratchy sound which is very minor to hear. I donít know how Korg design these keys but maybe itís something to do with grease dried out for the keys mechanism?

Is this common with weighted keys or a design fault?
My first Kronos 2 73 had the same problem and Korg re greased all the keys but what type of grease they are using is probably bad quality because my 2nd replacement just started doing this.

I sent it once for repair under warranty and it came back damaged with paint coming off, scratches and dents, damage to the wood side panels and the dealer gave me a new unit. I donít want to send it again for repair as Iíve lost faith with Korg not looking after my instrument.

Iím not sure what to do...please help

" what " they sent you is the problem, is my take on your post.

was it factory A stock ? Or some thing else ?

Hi, went to the dealer to pickup the Kronos from repair, then I saw all the damage it was done to it and I was really disappointed and not happy as it was in mint condition when I hand it in for repair. After contacting Korg and sending them the photos to them, they authorised the dealer to give me a brand new a factory stock.

so your dealer is sounding like zero for 2. Factory A stock does not behave with the symptoms you posted.

Not impressed by your dealer.

BTW, I estimate Korg has sold 5,000 of the 73 config.
Over the past 9 years.

I don't recall any trend towards 'design fault ' as your topic questioned.

I have a 73' it doesn't do any of what you're describing. Who is your Korg dealer? Is it a big chain or a local store?

Do you have any vids of the problem? I'd be curious to see. What key is it?

GregC: When they got me the replacement it was all factory sealed and taped in original box and I even asked them to open it and I checked everything before I took it away, it is A grade stock brand new. The Key was fine upon first few use but after 8 weeks of playing every evening after work the key pressing started sounding a bid odd than the rest of the keys. I didnít press the key very hard or anything.

Blazerunner: itís a local store in Guildford UK named Andertonís Music & Co
I will send a video of the problem soon

I understand more clearly.

You had bad luck with the 2nd Factory A stock Kronos from Andertons.

the solution is simple. Demand that Anderton replace with a new Factory A stock Kronos.

8 weeks of having it, wondering about it, is not going to fix it the key problem.

Don't wait any longer. I would not put up with Andertons pushing you off to wait around for Korg Service.

Factory A stock Kronos should be perfect. Thats what you paid for.
