I am trying to install some user sample banks that I created on my K2 onto my K1.

I created my new banks on my K2 in a directory called /Samples on the HDD. The BankName_UserBank.KSC files are in this directory. The K2 also created a subdirectory named BankName with additional files.

My KSCs are not protected / authorized as part of a commercial EXs product. However, I have purchased the EXS-17 and EXS-18 to upgrade the K1 to the K2 level so I can have compatible PCGs, and those EXS are part of the KSC Autoload on the K1.

To install the files, I copied the KSCs and the subdirectories with the same names from the K2 to the same /Samples folder on the K1.

When I try to load the UserBank KSC, I get this error with one bank:
Quote:
KSC is incomplete due to uninstalled EXs: ??4

The other bank gives the error:

Quote:
KSC is incomplete due to uninstalled EXs: ??0

Other UserBank KSCs that I created on the K2 are working fine on the K1. What did I miss this time? I've never seen that error before.

A couple of suggestions to try:

1. Open the userbank.ksc file you're trying to load in a text editor and scrutinize the entries for a clue what might be failing;

2. Open a HD1 program; tap the OSC / Pitch tab; expand the second field to take a look at what sample libraries are available to select from, and compare that to your K1;

I had a similar issue some time back and recall that it took some relatively deep thinking and analysis to rectify.

Have the same error message when I try to load a self-made PCG, created with Chicken Systems Korg Creator. This s/w is not a finished product sadly...but support is usually quick in replying.

I almost forgot to report back the solution.

Since my autoload exclusively uses the UserBank format, I only copied MySample_UserBank.KSC, and skipped copying MySample.KSC.

Apparently the _UserBank KSC still requires the non-UserBank KSC file to be present too. If it is not, you get a confusing error message.
