Looks amazing! Looks factory... Probably something Korg originally planned to do but decided against to save .7cents on production costs.

Great job. So there wasn’t a way to avoid cutting out the back perforated vent grill on the back, right? Guessing due to the LCD mounting frame and how it needed to swivel up, it would have hit that vent/grill.

Would have been nice if Korg had the tilt feature built in from factory, very useful.

And thanks for reposting those images. Always a tricky job as image hosting servers/services have their own agenda.

Thanks for your nice comments. My initial goal for this mod was to stop having head/neck/back aches when programming for hours on my Kronos while sitting down, but it ended up looking nice too. As you mention, the actual cost to complete my mod is very little - a few hard to find longer ribbons, a few basic things at any hardware store, a bit of black paint, etc.

You are also correct in that I wanted the unit to look factory. Even before I started, an important must for the mod was to be able to keep the same look with the screen at original position. So for gigs where you play standing up, it's best to keep the screen at original position. But it is very useful when you play or program sitting down. It gives this fun in your face feel and it is easier to work with the screen. The LCD colors also look better because they tend to change a bit as the view angle increases.

You are welcome and thanks for your nice comments. You are totally right about removal of the round metal part as the LCD frame ends there and you need a bit of extra room for everything to move there when lifting the screen towards maximum height position.

I still have the cut part, filed for very soft sides and repainted - and it can be placed back where it belongs for original look when needed. It is one of the difficult tasks for the mod. I never worked often with a Dremel rotary tool before, so this part was quite a bit challenging and stressful. That metal is surprisingly heavy and thick. But I went slowly towards every little hole in the vent grill and I guess it ended up well. I remember destroying a couple of those tiny rotary cutting blades in the process. The first one transformed into a bunch of sharp pieces which went a couple of inches from my neck to like 20 feet farther in the basement. Then I figured out I needed more than just safety glasses and bought a protective mask covering face and neck. Shocked Very Happy

Man, you thought of everything. This mod definitely raised the value of your Kronos. Thanks for the insight.
