My tempo LED is blinking whenever I play a note. Does anybody know how to turn this off? I need to see the quarter notes to keep on time.

Thanks!

Are you sure your looking on the tempo led?

The tempo LED is on the ride side near the tempo knob. The other LED is for using SSD Streaming. That's way it is blinking while playing.

I’m looking at the right light. The one next to the tempo knob.

The tempo LED should be constantly blinking, regardless whether you’re playing a note or not.

It is an indicator of the current tempo set.

Right,

that's why I ask if he is looking the correct LED.

I can assure you guys I am looking at the correct LED. It is blinking in tempo but on top of that it is also blinking every time I play a note. It doesn't do it when I play internal sounds. It does it when I play VSTs (i.e., a combi with a timbre set to EXT2). Trying to figure out why and how I can turn it off. It seems like it is reading incoming note data that is probably looping through my system and back into the Kronos but I can't figure out how to make it stop. It has only started recently and I don't recall making any global changes that would cause it to happen.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts/ideas.

I went thru Global and didn't see an option to stop the blinking.

I suggest a workaround- if/when the tempo blink is distracting you, place a small piece of fabric over it.

... or tape.

Solves a multitude of problems.

I don't think so but I'll check.

Well this is a bit shocking, I have had my Kronos for 10 years and didn’t even know there was a tempo led!

No, I had internal selected. I switched it to external and back just to see if that would "reset" something but it didn't. I don't
see anything in any of the manuals about ths LED ever reflecting midi note on/off data and that seems to be what it is doing.

Tempo LED is programmatically driven, so if it blinks in a weird way then there are really few things to consider
1) Just in case - chack if you use latest Kronos system software
2) Some attached MIDI device sends "song start" (or other midi realtime) command that confuses Kronos clock and it is reflected in Tempo LED. This should affect Kronos only if Midi clock is set anything else than Internal.
(Still you can try if checking/unchecking "Receive ext realtime command" and/or diconecting any external MIDI device (DIN or USB) affects that weird behavior).

Cover the LED with electrical black PVC insulating tape. Blue insulating tape will not work.
