I'm getting used to navigating the new (to me) Kronos. I'm loving it! I had a few frustrated posts here earlier, but I'm pretty much up and running. I performed my first gig without the laptop (which was why I bought the thing to begin with)!
things went, for the most part, swimmingly. Just some level tweaks, some muddy low end stuff...but overall, success!
I have transferred most of the songs I perform with the laptop into the internal memory of the Kronos, and can load about 30 songs at a time into the sequencer, which I have corresponded, and accessed with "set list".
Here's (finally) my question:
If I replace, or otherwise increase the capacity of the RAM card(s), will I be able to load all my songs into the sequencer? ... or at least more than about 30?
I would like to be able to use "set list" for all the songs that I do so I can take requests from my list.
I had some requests from the second half of my songs and had to wait until I loaded the other batch of songs into the sequencer.
It wasn't a big deal, but it's one thing I can tighten up for a smoother night.
Thanks folks!

Do you have a K1 or K2? Since they are built on a 32 bit foundation, they are limited to the amount of usable RAM and the K2’s are maxed out (in fact they can’t even use all of the physical RAM installed).

If you have a K1, you can add another RAM module to increase the capacity somewhat.

There are, however, methods you can employ to reduce the amount of RAM used at startup, and also methods to use the RAM for samples dynamically.

They’ve been documented and discussed here, so you can search for threads outlining the details, but in short be sure you are loading the UserBank KSC files, and create a stripped down default KSC if you’re not using all of the drum kits and such so that you free up as much RAM as possible.

I’m pretty sure I have a K2… which seems like I will be disappointed.
I have searched for keywords RAM and songs in sequencer..
If you have a better keyword I’ll try that, but whatever came up in my searches didn’t seem to answer my question.
I’ll keep looking, but thanks for the response

No, increasing RAM will not allow more songs in the sequencer. It only relates to waveform memory.

Thanks for clearing that up.
Is there a way to expand the number of songs I can load at a time?

From the manual...

The KRONOS’ sequencer can hold up to 200 songs and
400,000 MIDI events or 300,000 audio events. It consists of
a 16-track MIDI sequencer and a 16-track audio recorder,
giving you a total of 32 tracks.

Thanks, but what it doesn’t tell you is that if you use all 32 tracks with a heavy cc count, you can probably only load the one song.
I was just wondering if there was any way to increase the capacity of the sequencer… not seeming like it.
Anyway, thanks for your input 👍

That's correct. MIDI event management is your likely path to more songs. Thinning out CC messages for example.

We’ll, again, I thank you for your response. I’m unwilling to thin my cc messages, as that might only free up enough space for 1 or 2 songs anyway. I was looking to double the space to load up 60 songs or so.
That’s okay I guess… I was just hoping

The K2 has wooden sides and the TouchView logo is sideways the LCD screen's lower right corner because there is a plastic/ABS rectangle around it which divides the metallic control panel. Earlier models don't have wooden sides and the TouchView logo is directly under the LCD screen's lower right corner. To find how much RAM is installed on your unit, check under Global/Options Info/System.

Well, thanks again for replying. I do have the wooden sides. As far as RAM, apparently it doesn’t apply to the sequencer memory, only the waveform memory. There’s a set number of MIDI events (400,000), and a set number of audio events (300,00)… and that cannot be increased. I’m certainly open to anyone who has a way to do that, but for now, I’m just working around that limitation as best I can.
