|
|
The manual says that we can create our own drumkits with round robin in the same paragraph where sample recording is mentioned:
Page 1002:
Quote: | Creating new ordinary or percussive Sounds
Sampling allows you to create new sounds, by recording from an external source (for example, a microphone or a CD or media player) connected to Pa5X’s audio
inputs, or by loading files from a storage device. To be used, Samples must then be assigned to a Multisample or a Drum Kit. A Multisample allows you to arrange samples into separate zones of the keyboard. Drum Kits allows you to assign a different sample to each note of the keyboard, with up to six dynamic layers per note and up to four round-robins. Multisamples can then be assigned to Sounds. Sounds created with this function can be used as any ordinary Sound, and assigned to any part/track. |
Does anyone here have any idea how this works in the Pa5X? |

Glad to see people that are really digging deeper instead of griming ...
Regardless of what manual says , you can create only 8 velocity layers since Play Mode : Cycle is disabled when selecting a stereo custom drum sample.
For instance factory drum sample 3370 SD has enabled ambience mode & Cycle mode containing 4 Round Robin levels which means that this sample
has meta data that are recognized by engine and KorgPa have never informed developers of required meta data info for this !
They should also had the option in Cycle mode to select different custom samples.
Also factory drum sample 1295 HH , has 4 offset markers , where are also 4 markers that are recognized but no further info of kind of meta data
in order users to create them since Pa3X age ...
Hope this helps _________________ Music Conductor - Sound Engineer & Developer - Automotive SMPS/RF R&D - Electronics Engineer

And how about custom mono samples? I tried to load samples and name them the same way Korg did with their round robin internal samples. It is still disabled.
Edit: The sad part is that I was working on a custom high quality percussion kit for about 10 hours yesterday (just preparation to get an initial idea how it would sound like in the end) just to figure out, that the advertised function is disabled. This feels like a scam to me, especially when considering all the other missing functions. |

It's not a subject of name but as I wrote in sample audio format , it needs 4 audio channel in specific format that OS recognizes
via meta data and multi channels else this Cycle option is not enabled !
Remark above mentioned factory samples and Cycle contains 4 different round robin samples.
Only if they allow management to assign different custom samples without meta data pointing to other slave factory round robin samples
then we can create custom round robin with different drum samples , as we do in melodic Sounds and multisamples.
As concerned to advertised functions , round robin is factory samples feature as ambient in older models and Pa5X is not
a continuation of Pa4X , all are designed from scratch so the term missing is not valid its only a matter of new specifications.
If they fit to your demands then you buy it else you stay on Pa4X.

Manually i have tested the RR function and it works on ram samples.
Unfortunately the UI doesn't allow it yet.
Hopefully as it is written in the manual , they ll add UI options for the user to do it too.
The offsets that factory use, at least up until 4x, do crash the sound engine if manually enabled on ram samples.
I think that ambience worked too when i had tested it but not really sure.
There is no easy way to do any of these though as they need understanding and fixing in hex/binary format to be enabled/set. _________________ ~~~The best keyboard for any player is the one that fits his/her needs!~~~
