When following the instructions to create a style from a midi file (Korg PA4 Operators Manual), I run on to this problem:

1. Insert Flash Drive (Midi Files)
2. Make sure your in Style
3. Hit Record
It is a this point the "Style /PAD Record page is supposed to come up on the screen but it won't. I've tried a number of times but the page won't open.

Any suggestions?

Hi Chuck

Firstly, if this is purely a question regarding the "RECORD" button, then the record screen should open up and you can then select your tasks. What does your PA4x do when you press "RECORD"?

Just checking.....
Not sure if you asking about creating a style from MIDI (i.e. importing) or creating a style using the "BOT".

Style creation from MIDI
Creating a style from a MIDI file takes some preparation as per the instructions on page 313 in the latest user manual.

Style creation from a MIDI song (Style Creator BOT)
This sometimes works ok depending on the design and quality of the MIDI song file - anyhow, follow the instructions carefully on page 319 - it definitely works but often the results are strange.

Cheers

Thanks for the response Pete. Yes I'm trying to create a style from a midi file. I followed the instruction that a Korg rep put on the internet. As stated in my initial remarks his steps are easy to follow until I get to the Record step which is supposed to open the create style page. For some reason my PA4X will not do that. I'll look at the new manual on Page 331. Thanks again.

Hey Chuck

So just confirming that you are wanting to try to get a style from an existing MIDI song file (i.e. the MIDI file is NOT one that you built specifically for importing to a style - that's a different process).

If so, then insert your USB with the MIDI file and in STYLE play mode press the RECORD button - around the centre of the screen you'll see "CREATOR BOT" - Press it and it will then want you to locate the MIDI file (i.e. select your disk (bottom left) and then the file and press SELECT - that's it!!! Then you can try out your new style.
All this is explained on page 319 in the manual.

I have had some nice results but only from good quality MIDI song files like "Tune1000".

Hope this helps.
