Good luck with the re-build. You're a braver man than I!

Gang,

New video is available on my Triton Project site. A few days ago I got about 4 hours of work done on it. So far, I've mounted one board (of about 4), the power supply, the power switch and input, the LCD, and the board that supplies power to the LCD (among other things).

As I go along with this project, I am finding that the Triton's architecture is quite frustrating to work with this intimately. I am looking forward to the reward, certainly, but working on a Triton is definitely best left to the experts.

My many thanks to those of you who have left encouraging comments on my site. Your support is a helpful motivating factor to get through this project!

Check it out:

Thanks,

Russ

It's fixed. My old friend, my Triton ProX, is back to life, and is functioning 100% normally. I can't believe it -- too good to be true.

Very Happy

I just wrote what will be one of the last updates on the Triton Project website. I fired it up tonight with the new motherboard, and everything is working perfectly.

The project isn't yet totally complete, I still have to finish mounting some hardware (keybed, joystick/disk drive assembly, end-pieces), but it is definitely far enough that I was able to apply power tonight. I cannot tell you how hard my heart was pounding in my chest as I hit the power switch, and the joy of seeing it light up and say "KORG TRITON" on the screen was overwhelming. It was somehow even more exciting when that power-up screen was corrected to say "KORG TRITON PROX" (by entering the maintenance mode and programming it to 88-key mode, as this motherboard was from a 61-key model).

Thanks to you all for your supportive comments! This was a hugely important project to me. I care for my instruments as I care for people that I care about, and losing my Triton was a real tragedy in my life. Getting it back is a dream come true.

Check out the for the story, and I will be posting video there soon. The link is below.

Thanks,

Russ

All the best

Thanks! I sure will post pictures and such. I've posted lots of video in the past on my blog page (tritonproject.russnixon.com), and I took video of the moment that I applied power for the first time last night... I'm still in disbelief that I actually overcame the ugly reality that my Triton was completely dead.

Ok, here are some preliminary pictures of the Triton after the major rebuild. As you can see, it is not yet 100% mechanically assembled, but it's together enough that I was able to power it up and run self-tests, and play it a little with some headphones!

Hello Korgboy,

Had a look at your website dedicated to your project.
Looks very impressive.

Thanks for sharing this with us and good luck for the next. Wink
