Hi,

Can anyone recommend some decent, low/med budget speakers for the Korg X-50?? Don't need to gig with them, just for use at home as an alternative to headphones.

edit: also, i've read that the X-50 can plug into computers through USB. Does this mean I don't need a sound card and midi interface for my pc??

This may be a bit shocking but poke around a read the reviews. If you can't spend the serious funds for some good studio monitors or haven't the room; this Logitech X-230 system is simply amazing at the humble price of $60(USD). Don't waste your funds on low-end M-Audios, Samson's etc. these simply sound better than those and will tide you over quite nicely until you can invest in some serious monitors

Ok, great.

So, presumably, to use them, i'd need to connect my synth to a laptop/desktop?? (Which I will be doing anyway -- using FL Studio)

How much are you willing to spend? You can bet those Logitechs are designed for gamers, not musicians. If I were you I would have a look Edirol's MA10 speakers. They are proper studio nearfield monitors and sound really good, as long as you don't overdrive them. i.e. don't turn them up too loud.

In answer to your USB question - the X50 does not transmit audio via USB, it is purely a MIDI/data connection. You still need to use audio cables to connect it to your speakers or PC audio in if you want to hear it. They have two inputs so you could attach your PC to Input 1 and your X50 to Input 2.

I've been looking at the Edirol MA7A monitors because they are cheaper. Are they still a good buy in your opinion??

Also, how much difference would there actually be between the Logitech ones and Edirol monitors?

not sure if you have sorted your speakers out yet but I have Logitech Z10's

I find having a 2:1 bass box is fine for games/movies but not so good for listening to music clearly so wanted some decent 2way speakers for music on the pc and to plug into my music gear.

the Z10's sound lovely have a clear sound and are based on studio
speaker technology plus they are usb audio

I've bought Laney AudioHub AH100 for my X50. Great amp. Great sound. 3 input channels, 1 cd/aux in, reverb. Cd-in is very useful so I can play along with my MP3-player plugged-in to this Laney. You can look the technical spec at www.laney.co.uk

Hi All,
First time poster here...didn't want to start a new topic so i thought i'd add on to this. I have a Korg N264 (you can guess how long I've owned it lol). I recently moved to an apartment and unfortunately, my amp just might be a little too loud Smile

Anyway, i'm looking for a decent set of speakers to hook up so that I don't always have to use the headphones. Looking to spend about $100. Thank for the help.

I agree that Logitech is a good bargain alternative.

But if you can spend a little more the best choice in Logitech's line is the Z2300.

This is what I have and it works incredibly great. The have incredible profond and vibrating bass. The woofer is a single 8" and it drives almost as much as my 2 12" in my living room sound system !

I have put the two little speakers on the table with my Korg TR as well as the control (power, volume, bass) and the sub on the floor under the table. It doesn't take any place and is fantastic.

It's only about 100$ ! A great deal !
