Okay guys.. I found a 500 GB hard drive at a major retailer priced at $137.00 USD.

Now, I also found the exact same 320 GB hard drive I was eying before @ 149.99 USD. This one has firewire 400 (no 800 for a reasonable price per gig). The 500 GB does not. That one is USB 2.0 only.

Oh, and I also found the same 500 GB with firewire 400 for $199.99 USD.

My debate is over the interface. I have the feeling I should get firewire, as it streams, and USB does not (sends data in packets). I'd be using it for recording as well as standard transfer/storage. It would however, be almost all audio-related data (not including personal music library, etc).

So basically, my question is as to what drive I should purchase. These are all Fujitsu MyBook drives. I thought about Lacie, as I know they have a reputation, but I might be lucky to get 160 gigs for $169.00

Note that I am in a private university, so money saved is a concern.

Also note that I need replies on this topic, not just votes. Thanks!
