Yikes LB - I did a search and went to a thread on fourthirdsphoto and wow... that's one technically deep conversation going on there man!

I got lost somewhere after the 4th post!!!

PS: thanks for the encouragement - I have no real clue when it comes to togging, but I love the learning.

I've had my DSLR nearly two years now, and love it!
Although the D300 looks interesting now Smile

Yeah the D300 is one sweet cam. I think it would make a lot of sense for you in deed!

I would guess the new olympus will be in the same range like the D300.

Now if Canon only would deliver that announced 50 MP chip for mainstream cameras. Laughing

I am seriously thinking of going analog. I have my eyes on a 6x17 Camera, but the hassel of developing and the additional costs of a very good scanner is holding me of, and first I have to upgrade my DSLR, probably early next year. I will not buy until the first batch has hit the market and people made initial experiences.

Thanks Simon - I have to admit, I absolutely love it.

Thing is, though we are in a beautiful part of the world, I don't get anywhere near as many opportunities of taking the super sort of pictures LB gets to see and take every day.

Have used Photobox for some poster prints during their bank holiday special for £5 though Smile

Hi John,
Wexford was the same, so much to take in and photograph, it was so much easier.

I've used photobox for photobooks, pretty good results too, although the formatting is limited. Tesco photobook software is much better, but I can't comment on the quality yet. Poster prints sound cool Smile

Yes the E-3 looks similar (in camera HDR?!), as does the Canon 40D. I'm still not sure if we're seeing enough of a difference in technology to make upgrading worth while for me, they are very nice though! It's probably because the D50 is still performing well, and I do this as a hobby, one day GAS will get me though Smile

Incidentally guys - can you offer some advice here please.

I have these (what I'd say great quality in terms of printing) poster prints at 30" x 20", but I am stumped as to how I best frame them. I don't really want to go and purchase a large frame at £30, do you have any ideas as to how I could frame the prints?

I am considering thick black or white backing card set at approx 2" border around the print itself, then using photo glue to attach the poster print to the card... would that work do you think?

Suggestions...?

Hi John,

Just a thought, personally I think the frame is as equally important as the picture. I would not skimp on it if the picture means anything to you. If you never did that before, have it done, chances are it looks better and lasts longer.

Yeah that HDR thingy is still a gossip, but wouldn't that be sweet, I am predicting this since more than a year, one of these days someone whacks the algorithm into the cam. I would not complain if this would be olympus. Wink

The card idea should work if you don't intend to hang them on a wall. Haven't really looked into frames .... depends what you're after in terms of style and quality. If you're thinking about diy, looks like Hobbycraft might be worth a visit:

I was asked last week if I could take pics at a kids party, and as the party theme was 'Make-Up', was asked if I could take my portable studio flash gear and set up in a room taking portraits of the kids when their make-up was completed.

I was very pleased with the results - hope the parents are too... Smile

Excellent John, the slide show is cool, and the background changing slider is a nice feature.

We did the Jungles thing at the end of last term as my daughter is now in high shcool, I made up photobooks for the other parents, took a lot of work but I'm pleased with the results.

I tend to buy the Argus when I remember, but can probably get hold of the last few weeks, which date ? Smile
