Great inputs - thank you, gentlemans!

The SM58 is a reliable Mic that you can hop off a brick wall, and still expect it to work as good as the day you opened the box. But compared to proper Studio Mic's that require 48V (powered by the OASYS) it just does not compaire.
Proper Studio Mics are in a different class altogether.
Regards.

Sharp,
Could you recommand me any studio mic that would work properly with K.O.? |

Definitely, yes, I'll check it. Here's the interview where Mr. Michael Cretu mentions K.O. |

Charlie wrote: | @Zoltan: you can plug your microphones directly into the Oasys. If they need Phantom power the Oasys offers this as well (like Sharp mentioned above). If you wish to use any other hardware befor plugging into the Oasys you can do that too. You just have to have the proper cables and choose the right inputs (Mic or Line) and switch its power on/off - well, and you will have to tell the Oasys which inputs he shall record. |
Thanks - thanks - thanks! |

So it’s reduced basically on the level of a quad processor with all the plug-ins that you have inside and that’s maybe 90% of the record. For the rest, I probably have only two auxiliary synthesisers, the Korg Oasis and the Roland V-Synth XT, but they were used only a little bit. But there are no effect machines or nothing; everything is plug-ins

10% is OASYS and V-Synth ............. _________________ French OASYS76 owner |

I think your question is a loaded one. There are so many avenues to consider but the simple answer depends upon you. This thread has given you some great information. I do alot of work in my studio. I only own one keyboard (hardware) and that is the Oasys. I do have softsynths and an acoustic piano. From an instrument standpoint that's all I use and really all I need. I could make a case for certain keyboards and there are some very nice ones out there that do things differently but I come from a different perspective. I think its incredibly important to master the gear you have instead of buying a whole bunch of stuff to do things. I know there are people who disagree and I respect their opinions but this works for me. I can't tell you how many people have multiple things that do the same things and/or they don't understand or truly grasp the gear they have and what it can do. Something to keep in mind at the very least. The Oasys is a monster and could take some serious time to wrap around that completely. Not that its that difficult, but more that it has that much depth. _________________ And there was this one time at band camp...... |

Thanks for your input!

From www.korg.com/oasys :
Quote: |
Number of Programs/Combinations/Drumkits
1,664 user memory programs (896 (640 PCM+256EXi) come preloaded)
1,792 user memory combinations (384 come preloaded)
152 user memory drumkit (40 come preloaded)
256 GM Level2 preset programs+ 9 GM Level2 drum preset programs
|
With the addition of STR-1 since that list was devised, there are a further 128 Programs when running OS 1.2. If you buy the optional LAC-1 package you get a further 128 programs.

Hi Zoltan,
You say that you are a big fan of workstations. The Oasys is a great and varied source of sounds with other goodies thrown in, but as a workstation it seriously falls down in the sequencer department. If you are coming from software or another contemporary hardware sequencer, you will be disappointed. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/theparlezmusic

Derm,
I didn't owned any workstation up to this point. Now I am trying to understand if K.O. could work as a studio for me.
I couldn't say that I would come from "software or another contemporary hardware sequencer".
"...as a workstation it seriously falls down in the sequencer department."
Could you explain this?... |
