Sina,
After your response I am 100% confused.
WHY?
Because I thought that K.O. can fulfill all my needs, as a workstation. Definitely, I will need to "Change tracks while the sequencer is playing, quantize, move notes around and transpose..." so I'll need a flexible working environment.
Now I'm wondering: should I consider a Fantom-X8, instead of a K.O.? My budget is limited so I'll have to make the best decision for my needs.
On the other hand, as I saw, Fantom-X8 has no CD burning option... |

Zoltan, if you haven't seen my videos, here are a few handheld demos that show the sequencer in use. You should get an idea if you can work this way or not. Personally, I use it for everything I record.
Videos thread
My recent recordings included my EXILE trailer and my short movie, THREE STRIPE. I love the Fantom sequencer, but I could not have done these songs on that, with the limited FX and bus routings that it has.
Also, check out RC-IA's SONG THREAD, that used only the OASYS sequencer. That one will blow you away. |

Sina,
Yes, this would be my situation: no workstation history/experience.
Thank you for the detailed explanations! |

Hi Zoltan,
It pretty much like Sina has said, and if you dont have other workstation experience you wont have any expectations.
My angle here is to prevent new buyers from experiencing the disappointment that I did with the sequencer. Yes, you can work with the sequencer, but it actually has less functionality than the older Triton sequencer. Its been 2 years and no change and no guarantee that any improvement is coming. If I knew then what I know now, I probably would not have bought.

I agree - Sequencer is outdated and a "weak point" of the Oasys. Nevertheless I wish to add, that once you are used to working with it, it does its job well and I prefer it to any other solution with an external sequencer. I was close to switching back to Cubase several times - but it's so handy to have everything on one platform. But I wouldn't buy the Oasys BECAUSE of its sequencer. |
