Update 1.3 looks extremely promising, to say the least. If it's half of what they say it is, it will be phenomenal!!

But, still no info on the famous "FUNCTION" button that just sits there..

Sometimes, when I think that nobody can see me, I press it. Very gently, nothing to write home about.

And nothing.. Crying or Very sad

I wonder...

Maybe it will come into use when all Combi/prog banks are full or something, so when you press this "FUNCTION" button Banks A,B,C,D, etc, become A2,B2,C2,D2 ETC. Confused - or at least it will access more functions on the same buttons, hence the name function! yes??? Confused

that if you hold it down in combination with two or three different buttons you will enter some secret factory mode you are not supposed to know about.
At least, that was the case on my VS2480, and only certified repair people
knew about it!! Try all possible combinations, should keep you busy for a few days.
I have nothing to do today, maybe I will try this. Angel

Yes, we know you've been pressing it, and the Engineers have asked you to stop - you keep waking them up at all hours of the night!!

Wink

OK, seriously, we added it to keep in reserve for possibilities. of course we'll announce when we've implemented it for something. Plenty of ideas possible, right?

Sorry Jerry! Didn't know it was wired to your alarm clocks.. Embarassed

If have some ideas though.. How about:

You press it, and Ski has to do twenty push ups and immediately program two banks?..

I don't know, I'm just freestyling here.

Just beware, there's a secret button combination that summons a cthulhu. If you don't value your sanity, you just keep pressing that button all you like...

Now, that's a funny thread!!! Laughing

I hope this function button might someday add a feature like M3's "Drum Track", or the extra banks mentioned above ... or a "Brain to Midi" interface! Wink

Rumor has it, that the Function button will eventually be "Latched" to a secret drop down lid, extending from the bottom chassis of the Oasys,
providing a user urinal. This will facilitate more productive workstation sessions, and will be a valuable and welcome update. Laughing

Friends, where is the art in your souls ? Wink

The whole point of the FUNCTION button is that has NO FUNCTION. Whilst it may look like just another button to the casual observer, it's in fact a surreal art masterpiece and a statement about the many conflicts in modern life. The Function button has no function, it's a paradox. Just think about the implications of that and reflect on how many lessons that teaches us about modern life with its many personal and moral conundrums.

I think we have a pretty good idea whose work it is, from this little clue :

Daz, you've inspired me...

(to the tune of "Danny Boy")

Oh Danny boy, the Function button's calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
That button nigh, as to its function's func--tion,
'Tis something o---nly Danny can decide!

Oh Danny boy, thy button 'tis forsa----ken
It yearns to feel, that long awaited touch!
Abandoned pla---stic tab of great ambition,
To make it blink, would be to ask too much?

Oh Danny boy, they blame you for its silence,
Its undivi----ded loyalty to nil,
It shall be pressed, if not but into service
But with the hope, that o---ne day it will!

I thought the function button was meant to be the "write me a number one hit" button.

So when the user hits the button a list of styles comes up and pick which type of number one hit you want the Oasys to write for you.
