Is the Korg MicroX right for my set-up?
Okay, so I have a Radias (which is MMT-based, yes?). So I wouldn't necessarily want to pair that with a MicroKorg (MS2000-based) or R3 (MMT-based) yes? The small Korg synth that's MOST different from a Radias would be the MicroX, yes? Especially since I don't already own a Triton, yes? I do own a Fantom-X rompler, but would like some of that phat Triton sound as well.
Basically, I'm looking for a small, portable keyboard (too bad the MicroX doesn't take batteries), but while I'm at it, I might as well get something that complements my entire set-up, right? So, here's the set-up:
• Roland Fantom-X8
• Roland V-Synth GT
• VirusTI Polar
• Korg Radias
• ___________?
Is the Korg MicroX what should go in the blank spot? Thanks for any replies, opinions, etc. _________________ Fantom-G8 | V-Synth GT | VirusTI Polar | Radias |

I said korg suck!
Not really,i deleted it
What type of sounds are you after?I've found the microX can sound very nice with a bit of external processing but i don't know what it could add to what you already have.
Have you checked out the keyboard wizards vids on youtube? They'll give you sn idea of the types of sounds it has.I'm going to post some clips as well

Oh! I was worried there for a moment that you flamed me or something!
Well, I'm just looking for sounds that are most DIFFERENT from my Korg Radias. I guess I'm looking mainly for more pads and some new leads. Since I believe the R3 and MicroKorg are more similar to the Radias than different, and the MicroX most likely the most different-sounding from the Radias, I thought that might be the ticket.
I'm considering the MicroX because I just wanted to add a small, portable keyboard that I could play in the bedroom while watching TV or whatever. Plus, I think the MicroX is just so cool-looking and so compact. But I might as well buy something that sounds most different from what I already have while I'm at it, right? The consumer Yamahas are great for the money, but far too bulky to lay on my lap in bed. _________________ Fantom-G8 | V-Synth GT | VirusTI Polar | Radias |

Having spent some more time with the microX i can say it is different to anything else i have,hw or sw.In combi mode it's really powerful as you can stack 8 voices so it could be used to create some nice motifs(once i learn how to program it).I wasn't sure if the onboard sounds would offer you anything you don't have but with a little experimentation it can sound unique. It's the fx that give the edge i think, you can have one insert and two master fx and a master eq.All sorts of sound modification is possible so if you want it for more than pads and leads and you want to create your own sounds,i'd say go for it!
You can create stacks easily anyway by loading the factory presets into combi,i'll have to try that. The editor really helps and you can quickly save edits as you go to your hd.All in all it's a great little synth and i'd recommend it
Hope this helps _________________ Soundz musik |

As a very versatile soundsource It'll be hard to find something in the same pricerange as the microX. Roland makes a Fantom table-top sound module, but it doesn't have keys and knobs like microX.
If You can live with the microX's 2 octave keyboard and that selecting a sound are not as fast compared to the direct number inputing method on other synths, it will complement the Radias (and almost EVERY keyboard setup out there!) with a HUGE load of drumsounds (900+ different samples) and high quality sounds in general.
Additionally the comfort of being able to edit sounds via a computer, direct or from inside a sequencer software program, and selecting sounds with 2 mouse-clicks, is a very welcome addition.
I'd recommend the microX for anyone needing 'basic' sounds to go along more specialised synths like ie. Your Radias. I've had mines for a little over a year, and it really grows with time!
With those two machines and some digging into making your own sounds, that setup should keep You happy for a long time |
