Hello, again, I have now spent 5 hours trying to recover the system 1.2.4(?)
after a disastrous attempt to get 1.3 going. I more or less have the old
system running, was able to activate my LAC license. But now, pads
1,4 and 6 do not work anymore with Karma. This is quite crazy.
What the hell is going on here. I had to reinstall 1.1, reauthorize, upgrade
to the 1.2.3(4) with the STR, so far so good, and then this!!!

What a mess.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble...

Pads not working right is actually a pretty common thing to notice after a format install, as the pad calibration data gets erased by the format. Try going into global mode and using the pad calibration function from the pull-down menu, I believe this will get the pads working again for you.

before reading your reply, I did this, and they work again.
But why 1,4, and 6?? Anyways, that is solved. Now I do not know
if I want to attempt to install 1.3 given the time I wasted today
Thanks anyways.

I'm very sorry that you have had difficulties. Please note that reformatting is not a recommended solution; I fear that this has made things more difficult than they needed to be. Since you have formatted your drive, you will now need to re-calibrate your hardware - not simply the pads (which can be done from the normal UI), but the joystick, knobs, sliders etc. (which requires entering a special calibration mode). Your Korg distributor should be able to provide you with information on how to do this.

I would strongly recommend that you contact your Korg distributor, so that they can help you to get back to a fully functional state.

I call French Korg distributor and this "special calibration mode" is unknown.

I think there is a lack of information between USA/JAPAN and FRANCE, isn't it ?

The "error code 2" during update and "FATAL Error Cannot Install File" during Restoration is also a problem that is not listed on Korg France bugs.
Please help us !

Korg distributors are generally per-nation, so your Korg distributor is Korg USA:

All distributors have access to the same information. Tell them to look harder!

I guess this is so secret that they did not want to tell the french....
By the way, I finally managed to get 1.3 working after I guess
many tries and 8 CD's I burnt and threw out.
I did format the drive and then used the restoration CD's
V.1.1, got a new authorization code too, upgraded back to 1.2.4 and then
finally 1.3 by booting from the drive. But I have not had the time to test if I really need to calibrate.
Except the pads then, which you can do yourself.

Oh now I see the reply by Dan, thank you, I will contact them shortly.

dear rudolfck,
I had also some problems at installation. I have put a thread in the other forum. But i updated from 1.1 to 1.3 right away without problem, but after reauthorization also. ( I didn't do any formatting).
So I think 1.2.6 or anything like that is not needed.
It is good to verify the new CD and not to have any stick or harddisk on the USB! This might cause some of the installation problems.
Hope you get along now Very Happy
ANashwaran

Hello Anashwaran, It works now,
it just took most of the (work!) day , a few beers and a box of CD's.
The weird issue that now popped up (but may not be serious), is that
if one formats the hard-drive (as I did), one may have to re-calibrate
all the sliders/knobs/jVJS/ribbon but the wise men in this forum
did not divulge how. That came as a surprise....
Anyways, it is up and running.

Regards,
Rudolf

I'm having some issues with my update as well. I installed exactly as the instructions in the PDF described for a CD install.

Since installing, my number 3 slider light doesn't work. The slider itself works fine, but the light is not on. All of the other lights are working properly. I am sure it was working before. Any ideas if this is something that can be caused by the update or is a coincidence?

I'm also having a yellow bar at the bottom of the screen upon booting in sequencer mode. It doesn't happen when booting from the program or combi mode.

Would the experts recommend reinstalling v1.3? I notice there are a lot of posts that say not to install earlier versions, but is it OK to reinstall v1.3?

thanks in advance!

Jeff

Well, I thought all went well with 1.3... until I copied a combi into the sequencer and all s**t broke loose. A very serious light show, frozen scene buttons and when I hit record the Karma and latch buttons would turn off and could not be reactivated. The combi I copied over was not there, just a selection of patches that had no relation to the combi chosen.. Also barely audible...

After burning a new iso and reinstalling with fingers crossed, no luck, just the same as before. So I proceeded to go to back to an earlier version... no luck. I really didn't want to, but decided to reformat the HD and reinstall 1.0. Now with the new ID in hand and getting back to Korg for a new Authorization code. What a bummer... I think I will return to 123 land and wait awhile. I know there are users that didn't have a problem, but I choose to be in the waiting room for awhile and not have to go through that again.

And now after reading Dan's post, I'm feeling a little ill, to say the least!
