You noticed Extreme has both type A and B USB sockets you can connect flash drives, external CD/RW and hard disk drives to.

If you just bought Extreme, it should run 1.0.5. OS and this is part from release notes about supported devices:

(1) DVD Multi Drives, CD-R/RW Drives
Brand Type Model Number
BTC CD-RW BTC54x24x52
TDK CD-RW VELOCD5201UE
MEMOREX CD-RW/DVD-ROM 48x External Combo
Drive (32023233)
NOVAC CD-RW NV-CR340U (*2)(*3)(*4)(*5)
PLEXTOR CD-RW PX-S2410TU

(2) Hard Disk Drives
Brand Size Model Number
ACOM DATA 120GB RPH120U2E-72 (*2)(*1)
ADTEC 20GB AD-HDD2.5PU (*4)
BUFFALO 80GB DUSB2-B80G (*3)(*1)
GLYPH 80GB NDFW1B-80 (*1)
GLYPH 120GB NDFW1B-120 (*1)
GLYPH 160GB NDFW1B-160 (*1)
GLYPH 200GB NDFW1B-200 (*1)
IODATA 20GB HDPX-U20 (*4)
IOGEAR 30GB GHD125C30
Western Digital 120GB WD1200B006-RNN

(3) Removable Disk Drives (+Removable Media)
Brand Type Model Number
IOMEGA ZIP Drive Z100USBS
IO-DATA MO MOC2-U13H

(4)USB Flash Memory
Brand Size Model Number
PNY 256MB P-FD256U20-RF (*1)
MEMOREX 128MB USB2.0 ThumbDrive
(32507712)
LEXAR 128MB PD128231
BUFFALO 128MB RUF-C128M
SONY 64MB USM64A (*2)
IO-DATA 64MB EDHG-64M
PRINCETON 128MB PFU-X128 (*1)
GREEN HOUSE 32MB GH-UFD32PLZ (*2)

But you don't have to stick to those precise models probably, with CD/RW and hard disk drives it's all about trying and hoping it would work, but almost every USB flash drive works fine.

About CF cards, everything is already written here:

Not exactly. It's plug and play meaning you don't have to install any driver probably, but in MEDIA mode on your Triton above tab "Load" there is contextual arrow, press it and select media to load from, in your case, iomega 100. Then Triton will show you files stored in that drive (or any drive connected to Triton and successfully recognized) and you'll choose to load them into RAM if they are wave or .ksc or .sng data. It will stay in Triton as long as it's ON, once shut down your data is lost. If you load .pcg data, it is saved into internal memory and stays saved after powering off.

So, there is no dumping files automatically.

Read previous posts, everything about drives, loading and saving, RAM and ROM is already said.

I don't think you can work with SCSI on Extreme, but really don't know for sure.
I mean, Extreme doesn't have SCSI option, but maybe with some SCSI to USB converter that could be possible. Maybe something like this:

http://www.usbgear.com/USB-TO-SCSI.html

But that's obsolete and complicated technology.

Buy CF card and forget those drives - CF is the most elegant solution, it's fast, doesn't stick out of Triton and capacities are big enough to satisfy everybody's needs.

that's true,i can get way more space from a cf card than an iomega zip.the reason i asked was because i have a lot of zip disks and two different zip drives.the 100 and the 250.i was just seeing how i could use each one instead of going out and buying a cf card. one more question,i cant seem to figure something out.when im in sequence mode and i have 3 or 4 tracks armed with the sound i want to record, and i have sequence mode set to a 4 bar loop i cant seem to erase a certain track or the entire sound on that track without erasing the whole "new song". i have tryed going into menue mode and going to "edit track" but i cant seem to figure this out. on my akai mpc 3000 there is a simple little button that says "erase" i push it. then i hit the pad that had the sound on it that i want to erase and thats it.

CF cards are pretty cheap these days, you can get officially supported SanDisk SDCFB with 2.0 GB capacity for about 40 dollars.

Suggest you copy your data from those zips to PC, from PC to CF and you are good to go. And you can get one USB thumb drive, they are even cheaper, so plenty of space for data storage is available at low cost.

About those sequencing issues, I could write this now, but you can learn on your own: pages 80, 81 and 82 in Parameter Guide refer to actions with tracks and measures (erase, bounce, move, insert etc etc.). It is always good to read that Guide.

Shrike is right. A lot of the stuff like copying, erasing is pretty basic.
But even simpler than going to the Track Edit menu to erase a track, go to the preference tab and select overwrite.
Record for a couple of seconds and the track is clear, without having to erase the whole song.
Yeah, you do need to take a look at the manual. The sequencing interface, is one of the easiest, you'll find.

P.S.
If you're in the Multi REC mode, uncheck the box from the Preference Tab.

You are totally right. If anything is easy on Extreme, it's making combis and working with sequencer. Sequencer has very logical interface and all options are visible with few touches.

Those were the days when I sequenced on N364, with menus going up and to the right and when you actually had to memorize which option (because they were pointed with two letters usually) means what and were to find it.

Sequencing in Extreme compared to that is piece of cake.

But to newbie, Parameter Guide is a must and almost everything is described there, only few tricks one has to learn on his own.
