Hi,
I'm about to buy a 2nd hand Trinity that is in a good state exept for one thing:2 keys make a tickingsound when I play them.
The aftertouch etc. works fine but the ticking is driving me crazy.
Is this a matter of cleaning or do I have to go and replace the keys?
Musically,

Dave

Would you be able to do it yourself ? If not, then send it for a checkup by Korg.

Yes, I could take it appart myself and clean, although i can also bring it to the local musicstore that is an official dealer to let it be cleaned.
The thing is that I'm about to buy it but if its going to cost that much because keys need to be replaced I'm scared that I have to think twice about it.
That's a shame cause its still a Trinity Confused
I can buy it for 723 US Dollar and the keys are actually the only thing that is not working properly. Wink

Hi,

I think this ticking problem can be solved by removing the key and then aligning the metal piece (which works like a spring). But in order to get to the keys, you will have to open the keyboard and remove quite a number of parts first before you can get to the keys

With regards,
Edmund

You can open up the Trinity and examine the keys from the bottom. See if the "hook" on the end the key is damaged in any way. Even a small chip on the corner of the hook will effect its performance and worsen over time. Yank it and replace it.

is it a sound tick or a mechanical tick?

I tore mine down completely last week. The previous owner accidentally broke the "VALUE UP" key and to change that you have to pull the whole thing apart. KORG UK kindly provided a PDF of the service manual which was a tremendous help; thanks again KORG UK. It took several hours to do the job but it's quite doable if you take your time and pay attention. Of course I had several screws left over that I had to go back and find a home for but in the end everything was back in place and worked out perfectly. I don't think I've ever seen that many screws in something before. This thing is really put together well; very modular.

Dig in and find that click! Wink

A nice 'customsation' tip is to replace all the screws on the back on the Trinity with bronze or gold coloured ones.

Only a cosmetic change, but it looks quite striking. Did it with mine Smile
