What I'd like to do is have one slider control the volume of two or three or even four programs in a combi. I'd like this for live performances. Or can you only have one slider per program in a combi controlling volume? Also, can a slider be programmed for the lowest position to be say a piano sound and then raise the slider up and strings will come in decreasing the volume of the piano? Again, looking at live performance. Thanks to all |

I could see two ways that you could approach this. If you went back to the programs that make up the combi you could change it at that level. I would go to the Filter page, OUTPUT and put the AMS Int: to 99 and the AMS to SldrMod5: #17, for example. On the patch that you want to respond the opposite, change the AMS Int to -99 with the same SldrMod5: #17 as the source. That way when you move Slider # 5, one will go up in volume as the other goes down.
The other way to do it at the combi level would be to maybe use two stereo limiters. Direct all the instruments you want one way to one limiter and the others to the second limiter. Set the GAIN ADJUST control so that they're going opposite (one positive; one negative). Set the source to a common slider.

Thanks for info, Burningbush. What I'm basically trying to do is achieve seamless program changes in combi mode. So far the only thing I have been able to think of is using the XY touchscreen. It works, but I find it very cumbersome and not a very smooth sound or program change. I have a Kurzweil PC2X and the patch-hold feature that Kurz has allows you to change programs or patches while holding the sustain pedal down, switch programs or patches (whatever you call them, voices) two or even three times while holding the pedal down and the sound does not cut off. It is perfect for live performance and sounds beautiful. Even on the Kurz setup mode (kind of like Korg's combi) the sound does not cut off while changing setups until you hit the next key. I'm really upset there is no hold-ten feature on the M3 like they had on all previous korg workstations. It really helped for one-touch program or combi changes. Hoping for that in an OS upgrade, though I'm holding my breath. |
