No worries Diego. After enjoying the song as a whole, I tend to look at the technical aspects of what I believe the person is likely capable of fixing if there is anything that sticks out. I also try not to "critique" something that might just be a matter of taste. But who knows...I might rake you over the coals!
e(4x)l, I actually fixed that area and reupped it. However, I am not sure of the harmony there. Something is somehow a little off. But I cannot pinpoint it exactly. It may just be the performance.
My voice is only at about 85% still, so it might just have to wait a bit. Thanks for the comments.

So many parts of interest, and I love the way it develops through in to quite heavy areas further in.
Could be my listening environment, but the guitar solo seems a little low in the mix.
I'm really enjoying this song, it's a cracker. _________________ Chordial |

Well, I do hear some real improvements overall though there do seem to be some parts where the different tracks seem competing either in simple volume or overlap. The one guitar part is one spot. I'll have to listen again since I've just woken up and my ears may be sleepy. However that being said I'm sitting here with goosebumps and staring out the window wondering that without this OSAM would these great songs even be written and produced. This is another historical OSAM for us and in some small way we're changing our part of the musical world with these new creations. What is it with your style Jonsolo, that pulls me in. After all I rarely listen to "this type" of music from the artists that are out recording new stuff that's on the charts etc. Yet I love this. And I think it's because you have taken the best elements from my favorite pop from the past and merged it together and melded it into your own unique style. It's like you took Chicago, Bread, Beatles, Brian Wilson, Tears for Fears or some such concoction and then changed it up for modern times and fed it back to us in a fresh new way. I think some of it is in your delivery and lyrics, there's a certain honesty that while may be simply song lyrics, do carry a realistic emotion that comes thru very strongly. Do wish me luck, as my electro ballad is aiming for that same emotional vein, but with my limited experience and vocal range is stretching me to the maximum. I'm on the third complete re-write and rehearsing that now. _________________ George Nelson is 2loose

Hello Jon-
Great song, production is right up there. Opening strings very attractive,
I have several that I can choose from vsts to several dozen flavors in the
Tyros but boy those are really sweet!
I'd bring up the backing vocals a bit but aside from that you've got it. |

Thanks unimon. I always do a combination of various string sets to get a completed sound. Sometimes it will be the TE's strings along with my MO6's, and other times I will add some Atmosphere or some sample to thicken it as I did with these.
And I am working on a few issues I have left with the vocals and should have a final product in a week or so. But I have started early on my March song, so that it will meet the deadline.
And George you got my concoction down pat ha ha ha ha!!!

LOL ... I am glad those minor vocal glitches were in there otherwise this would be a little intimidating for those of us who are less blessed with this level of skill/talent
In all seriousness, that is a just a great song ... if someone with a level of exposure like Robbie Williams was to record this it would be in the charts and all the girlies would be swooning fiercely The "retro" sound reminded me of the way that Crowded House have the odd Beatlesesque flavour in their songs, but without losing their own identity, that works very well.
Definitely fantastic "song craft" and a fabulous rich sound here ... which doesn't leave much room for critique, except to say that the guitar solo seemed unexpectedly (IMHO) far back in the mix.

It may be the effect I use on the sound that tucks it too far back. Then again, I do not believe the track is finished. I was still sick when I dropped the vocals, so I might be able to do them a little smoother.
I have started working on my new song for March, but will definitely revisit this one before the months end for a final take on it.
Jon
Edit: I have actually changed the whole solo around (you guess which patch I used) and I have increased some volume and did an EQ tweak to the backing vocals. If anyone wants to give it another spin, I would be honored...and anxious for anymore feedback. _________________ Jon Solo

This song is just so good, I'm reluctant to even dare to critique it.
I felt the new version was definitely better, especially in the second half, vocally speaking anyway.
Early in the song, your pitch isn't quite as "on" as the later parts. I guess I should try to be specific, and will do that later today if you like, just a bit pressed for time this morning.
If you ever do another song similar to Falling Away, I would LOVE to play guitar on it.

On my second listen (at least) so good so far, this is sharper, the different voices and parts seem to harmonize better and still be separate, the guitar has a bit more presence, just enough I'd say. love when the guitar lead kicks in, a very needed frosting on the cake. I think this is really great and definately stronger than the first version. I don't think it needs anything else to my ears. I do really love this song. It hits all the right grooves for me. _________________ George Nelson is 2loose

Yes - I think this version is better in terms of both the solo and vocals. Keep in mind that I don't sing, so for me vocals are big mystery. But I really liked the guitar sound! _________________ Care for a jelly baby?

Thanks guys. Yea I still need to redrop the lead. That will likely happen this weekend.
And I am head first into my next song already...much darker piece.

The solo sounds much clearer now, the whole mix seems to have more presence too. _________________ Chordial |

Just listened again and wow wow wow.
George said I should write about how the songs make me feel. Well, this made me feel......WORRIED........that I would never be able to produce anything this good!! What a brilliant song, how lucky we are to hear this.
You have a beautiful voice and I like the high end of your voice - when you sing "Oh no" - maybe a bit of 10CC in that concoction mentioned earlier ??
Regards from

There is no doubt that perhaps 10cc derived their inspirations from the same places I did, though I have to admit I have never listened to 10cc at all. But I do know they did the original "I'm Not In Love".
My primary influences are pretty obvious- Beatles, Beach Boys, Harry Nilsson, Badfinger, Tears for Fears, and more recently Jellyfish.
In my opinion the OSAM exists so all of us can raise our current levels of productivity to something a bit more. There is no doubt in my mind that anyone here is capable of musical greatness. All of us are waiting for that one song to come out of us that we can step back ourselves and go "wow".
But thank you for the compliments. It drives me to keep it up!

Doesn't sound unpolished to me. The guitars fit in very well and the vocals sound every bit professional.
Well done |
