HA HA HA! Nice! Go for it if you think it would help, but I have always enjoyed your lyrics George. There IS a quirkiness in some of them that keeps your sound very fresh. I never feel worn out or taken advantage of after hearing them (unlike some of the repetitive crap on the radio).

Wow the screen is so wiiiiiiiiiiide....

It came with XP already installed, and seems to be working fine, even the wireless router. The internet is lightning fast down here in my room.

Just thought I would let you know. Very Happy Very Happy

Hi George
Not yet. I'll do that tomorrow (it's night here). I've only got an old version of Sonar (2.1) and Sibelius (also old version), and have so far just done an audio dump into sonar. Hoping to get a new program, when I've recovered from getting the comp.

Got a problem with the line in on the soundcard.....I've got the 2 outputs from the triton (L and R) plugged into a small adaptor with one prong, to go into the soundcard, but this adaptor is too fat to fit !! With all the speaker plugs plugged in around it, I can't get it to fit. Confused

What a bother!

The comp. is white and silver - I thought it was going to be black. It's a Dell Inspiron 530. I've got some Logitech 7.1 speakers sitting about on the table too.

I've waited a loooooong time to have my own computer

Very Happy

Dee

That will do the trick nicely Dee. Also, you might want to look into these drivers for audio-

http://www.asio4all.com/

It will make your built in soundcard work better with programs that use ASIO drivers (as they are faster and bypass all the Windows junk). This will open some doors for you until you get a dedicated pro card.

As I noted earlier, look for cheap prices on quality RAM for your machine as that will speed things up as well.

Hi ellll
Good luck with the surgery for your wife - hope everything goes well. I'll be thinking of you both.

Hello Jon
I had a look at the site - so is this a bit of software I should acquire?
And by "programs that use ASIO drivers" do you mean Sonar, Sibelius etc.
Thanks! My soundcard is a Realtek HD. I might be able to get my hands on version 9 Cakewalk.
Do you think I need more than 3G of RAM? Shocked
I got that adaptor for the line in on the soundcard and I can now play the synth through the computer.

Dee

If you have 3gb ram you are fine.

The ASIO drivers are great for Sonar. That will enable you to use softsynths and real time effects without a lot of latency. This is especially useful for multi-tracking purposes where you want to experiment with your sound.

After that you can start scouring the web for great VST and DX effects and instruments. For now start with effects as I notice that you do not yet have a MIDI interface (the Triton Extreme came with USB output...don't know if the Triton has anything like that).

Hi Jon
Yes you're right, I have to get a MIDI interface.
Someone I know suggested the Edirol UM-1EX - does this sound right?

I would appreciate some advice about specifically which ASIO driver I should get too. Thanks for telling me about this, I didn't know about it!
