Hi!

Excuse me for the delay in committing the Jan entry for this OSAM...
Once again I had the opportunity to work with Damiano, a great italian organ player.
He has been contacted from a director to score his movie/documentary about an experiment with Sun and Light...he's trying to get involved on the World EXPO here in Milan.
Damiano asked me to record him, and we wrote some basic ideas for a 6-movements suite.
I'm giving you a preview, as the soundtrack will be owned by the client.
Hope you'll like it: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/224179/Diego_Jan-TheSunAndTheLight.mp3

If you want, you can see some pictures of recordings over here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2014153&l=ee182&id=1429925492

Regards

PS: is it the last song for this OSAM? Or do we have another left?

So is this you playing? Or the other guy? Or is it him playing material you wrote...or you both wrote?

Whatever the answers are...its a very strong peice. Very driven.

I just love this. That organ is just simply amazing and the music is completely over the top to perfection.

Hi!

Thanks a lot for all your kind comments.
Just to be more clear...
I've not played this by myself; Damiano played the organ you see in pictures, but we both composed the basic themes and ideas.
Then I was the "sound engineer" and he was the player.
I'm glad you liked it!

Regards

Hi Diego

This is very good - and thanks for the photos of the beautiful pipe organ too.

What can I say, other than you have such a great talent, and we are lucky you could be here for this Osam.

As botega said - the harmonies and rhythm are very medieval/renaissance - lovely. I thought of the sun and dancing light.

Regards from
Dee

Very nice! I love the lilting, skipping quality of this. Too often organ music is somber and serious. This has real life in it. Great job!!

Wow - what a sound! Nice pics too Smile What an experience to be there. My speakers are just okay - doesn't do it justice I am sure. Too bad we won't get to hear the whole piece Sad

Well Damiano can certainly jam on the organ. Congrats on the collaboration.

So you like the Motu traveler with the laptop - interesting.

Such a variety of sound here in OSAM - very cool!

Wow, thanks a lot for your comments, I appreciate them soooo much!
I love to work with Damiano as he can develope ideas in such a great way, I find him to be one of the smartest musicians over here!

I also like the sound of this organ, and I must say that Rode mics did their job, all these 4 mics together cost less than a single neumann, but I think the quality is quite good.

Thanks again,
regards

Very nice Diego,

Very dance-like and yet with an unusual feel for voicing, and a great sound in the chordal structure..., as WELL as melody...! (this organ does have some clean sounds indeed...)

This bodes well for a great work in the end... Did I miss the Organ Builder somewhere, or did you not tell us?? (And I assume Damiano is the fellow with the glasses in the pic with the professor... )

My Best Wishes on this....!!

John...(ellll) Very Happy

Hi John!

Sorry for the delay...
Yeah, I like the sound of this organ, it's bright, full, and clean.
The organ builder is "Mascioni", it's based in Cuvio, near Varese, a city about 50km far from Milan.

Regards

Excellent!
reminds me of 80s clapton, like August.

Did you record this live?

I thought this was very tasteful, which is great nowadays. I mean the arrangement was very good and tight, and your guitar tones are well chosen. They don't get in the way and allow us to hear every note.
