Hi to all great members,

As it seems the joystick proper operation of my Pa80 has come to an end.
I don't think that the problem is mechanical due to spring cuz it is just fine (it as a bit worn, having a small gap in the centre position of X axis but in general it is ok).

Malfunctions i am dealing with are the following:

1. When the range is set to +/- 2 and bend the joystick to -X the reset is not correct. The tuning is not correct when the joystick returns to centre position and it is slightly (5-10 cents) lower. So each time i bend it to the left i need to move it slightly to the right after reset in order to make the note sound in tune again. Of course this detune is even bigger if i have the range set to higher values than just +/-2.

2. The second malfunction is regarding +X bending. It seems that the bending does not respond correctly according to +X move. What i mean is that when bending the joystick halfways to the right, does not affect the pitch bend at all. I have to bend it more in order to get a slight effect. Also the bending in not continuous and it is like being in steps. For example the pitch bending does not sound like being performed smoothly in cents, and instead sounds like being performed in steps of 30 cents or so and only after having the joystick bent over halfways to the right.

I have tried to assign +2 to -X and -2 to +X in order to check that the problem is not due to settings or software. After that i have noticed that the problem then occured again on +X movement affecting pitch drop to -2. My opinion is that the reception cable carrying the horizontal position signal of the joystick horizontal potentiometer has some faults. Perhaps it is dust or just wear.

I have a brand new joystick to replace my old one with and i would like to know if anybody of you has replaced by himself a PA80 joystick before. Is it difficult or what? Is the access to it easy or will i have to disassemble or remove a lot of parts to get there?

Please let me know if there is also a guide available to do this.

Thanks and Regards
