Yarg ... a totally mad month here, so I am afraid all you're getting is a rather crappy token that I hurriedly lashed together. I started with an idea at the beginning of the month and then loads of work and personal stuff happened and in the middle and in the last few hours I've just hacked the idea into a very bad piece of music, which was actually rather fun.

On the plus side, I do have the kernel of an idea for my next song and that I am hoping will be something that I am actually proud of (unlike this one). It's a vocal song that's based around a conversation I had with my girlfriend about going and living a very different kind of life. During this mad month, which has been altogether too real, the image of this pastoral existence was such an enjoyable daydream that I found myself writing lyrics and music that captured some of this idyllic picture.

Anyway ... blah, blah Wink

So the following link is only for the truly lunatic amongst you that want to hear what happens when it all goes a little wrong. I am not really sure why I am even posting it, I guess I just wanted to at least post something.

I do not know what you are complaining about. This sounds fine. Maybe not the execution you wanted.

But I DO hear many things that can be done. I will certainly give this more listens as I am packing right now for a four nights in a row gig(s).

Glad you got a song in. Will check back on this Monday!

Jon

Daz, are you tired to be a programmer and desire less stress, less pc, more nature around you, more music during your week...
We are on the same boat!! Sad

BTW, I like a lot what I ear, and I agree with Jon that maybe it's not sounding as you wanted...but it's definitely a good piece, great usage of musical ideas, developing what you started, I like it!

So glad you got this posted. And it's so funny how different these pieces sound to everyone but the composer. Because to me this is a beautiful electro synth piece that is interesting and great to listen to. I can imagine that your ideas for this may not have been completely flushed out so to you it's lacking. But hey, the purpose of these deadlines is to get us to produce one way or another and you have. Just think of what you would (would not) have produced without OSAM this time around. I know for me I would be doing a thousand other things other than composing. I think this is a great piece as is and, yes, with some more work could even be a good vocal piece as well. I do like the progression of it by the way and how the notes play against each other.

I forgot to mention that I love the chord progressions, the alternation of major and minor chord areas, they are sounding beautiful blended, and this kind of changes really catch the listener!

Hi Daz,

Impressed with this...!!! It has a real open area of development and thats good. It has a nice but not strong ambience I like.

I would have a look at the intro, and at the general chord structure; I would like to see a departure from the alteration for a period with a return a half step up perhaps...but I don't disagree with Diego on the worthiness of the chord progression overall. At that little break, a background addition of some other unusual sound would be an attention getter...

Good overall..and the ending gets it done real well, if maybe just a "shade" abrut on the last couple of notes..

Good one..(but I do still like your singin'...

It is much better than you think. You forget what level you are at as a musician and tech wiz. This is not my genre but it is very nice. I particularly like the vocals (vocal samples) in the background. Nice structure and very clearly put together. Without your confession, no one would think this was rushed. It is complete and well strutured. Sheezz...I need to finish complete songs...I need better structure.

Excellent bro, I always want to hear what your doing musically.

What are the words being said and does it have a title?

I was expecting a demo or something, this sounds like a lot of time was spent putting it together.
Top marks for posting too, that's the osam spirit Daz!
Nice piece, it flows along, love the sounds, cool arrangement with little bits here and there to break it up.
Look forward to your May song, very intriguing stuff again!

This is not a genre/style I listen to much, or even care for much, and I say that because I did enjoy this.
When it started, I found myself hoping it wasn't going to be a Techno/Trance/whateveryoucallthis, style, but as I listened, I realized there were some nice, interesting musical things happening, and my attitude towards it changed instantly.
As mentioned, it does not sound like something thrown together, and the fact that it is, is very impressive, which isn't unusual for most of the music you create.
I enjoyed the listen very much.
Regards,

Daz - So U R one of those "clutch" people eh? Work well under pressure Smile Actually I think U R pulling all our legs - threw together in a hurry - good one. Anyways who says a lot of time spent composing is required to achieve a great tune?

Regardless of how much time you poured in, this tune "rocks". (Note to self: Need to find equivalent expression for this genre). Solid audio - what did you use - OASYS? Nice sections, intro. (love the sound efx), ending - I listened to it 5 times before posting. That is a very good indicator. Sure - there is lots of room here - but isn't that almost always the case with this genre?

Glad you posted this - it has made it to my iPod Smile

Cool

PS - it does deserve a name!

Hi Daz

As everyone has said already, this doesn't sound like it was just thrown together at all. I enjoyed it and loved the voice coming in, almost sounded like a gregorian chant going on there....

Sorry for being so late to listen!

Regards from
Dee
