|
|
Just wanted to clear something up as it had me a bit confused for a while.
Although the M50 doesn't respond to aftertouch via it's own keyboard, both poly and channel is transmitted and received however, this only applies to "sequencer" data.
This info is from Korg's midi implementation chart so it's not speculation.
I am assuming this means the M50 will not respond to aftertouch via a master controller keyboard ? _________________ https://yamahamusicians.com |

I'm sure that the m50 responds to aftertouch in all modes. Besides that, you can use a continous pedal to achieve the same effect. It's not the same as using aftertouch, but it leavs your hands free for playing. |

If you read the small print in the midi implementation chart it states that aftertouch only applies to sequencer data. I don't have my master controller keyboard yet so can't test it but i have no reason to suspect the manual is incorrect.
I definitely miss the aftertouch tthough. I have had Aftertouch on my last four keyboards and it's a bit odd not having it on the M50. _________________ https://yamahamusicians.com |

The M50 absolutely responds to aftertouch messages that come via the MIDI port (be it the 5-pin or the USB-MIDI).
What is confusing you is that the chart is saying that the only way it will transmit aftertouch is if it is either captured or created in the Sequencer Mode.
So playing an M50 from an external keyboard with aftertouch will absolutely work fine.
OK?

Thanks Jerry, I think that has cleared up the aftertouch question. Do you know though, why aftertouch was not enabled from the M50's keyboard? Would this have increased cost too much ? _________________ https://yamahamusicians.com |
