Hi!!

I am new to this awesome machine, so please be patient w/ me!!

I use Ableton to edit, and connect my MicroKorg via ¼” to 1/8” cord to the input on my laptop….laptop to speakers.

The music I am mostly interested in making right now is dubstep, using deep bass and “womp, wawa” sounds.

Most of the sound programs sound ok when played, with the exception of some slight delay, but when I go into deeper sounds, like hiphop #5 on low octave, I can barely hear the notes I’m playing, especially If I mess around with filters to create the “wawa” as I am recording live…When the Korg is connected straight to speakers the sound is phenomenal.

Do I need a soundcard or something?

Suggestions?

do u have delay in all programs or only hiphop #5 on low octave?
anyways u need a pre apli or a sound card for better music creation.

first try to download asio driver. then select in ableton audio options asio drivers and check how many ms do u have..

if not working, buy:
1)pre amplicator, u can find one cheep = mobile preampli by M-audio. very good for laptop but not top gear.
2)or use a tower pc and buy a soundcard Razz

save yourself some trouble and buy an audio interface
don't expect much from the line in on your laptop.

an audio interface will cut out all the latency + give you the sound quality you're looking for. A.55 (hip-hop #5 on microkorg) sounds perfectly fine through my mbox2 at the lowest octave.

Also, if you're using a mac you can choose to have your audio interface as your audio out as well.
