Im not sure if its the start button because it starts the song and stops it after a quarter second, Is this a internal problem? like the mainboard? or is something wrong with my startstp/record buttons????

Let me get this right. You're in sequence mode. You've loaded a song from a disk, probably a floppy. You press start (or your foot switch), and all you here is the first note. Or not even.
Bizarre. Have you tried reinstalling os? Or upgrading os?
